Had kind of a decent opening 20 minutes. We were pressing Atalantas midfield, winning the ball high up and hitting them on the counter. But our discipline went after that, gaps opened in defence and we conceded a simple enough goal because we didn't have enough players tracking back.
We're back to experiencing every old problem we've had over the last two seasons. Wide forwards aren't tracking back which means our midfielders are dragged out too far to compensate. So there's awning gaps in the middle for Atalanta to pass to. And when we're in possession our midfielders don't have the ability on the ball to find an attacking pass.

Funny thing is we made way more chances and generally weren't shocking compared to recent performances, and yet we've already managed to concede 2 :lol
We've actually created some very decent chances playing quickly off Atalantas shoulder and running behind. Rashfords movement has been great but finishing is off.
Think we could easily score a couple. Unfortunately, the back 6 is so disorganised that I can't see us not conceding as well.

I think he'd be fine in a front two with Cavani, except we'd have to drop half of our best players to do it.
Atalanta are an attacking team, they play wide and open. I'm not surprised we've created a couple of chances from incisive balls one of which was their defensive mistake.
What's embarrassing is that we are playing double pivot, slotting a B2B mf as a third CB, sitting back and waiting for the counter at home afraid of their counters and still conceding easy chances and still doing nothing on set pieces, two goals down already.
Honestly don't know which game you are watching lads, but this is as bad as we've played all season. Wrong setup, worse attitude and terrible individual performances on top.
There's nothing out there to praise.
