Really dilutes the abilities of the manager to be able to just change 50% of your outfield for every game.
Using your subs wisely, at the correct time or indeed the inverse is a huge part of management that is now...gone.
Just happy seeing Falcao doing so well again. Was possibly the best 9 in the world until his knee injury.

I like three subs purely because it increases pressure on managers to get it right the first time. Would rather get rid of the League Cup and ease fixture congestion than have five subs.
Agreed. 7 player bench is kinda dumb. Squad size is the same for all, and if the subs are still limited it doesn't have as much of an effect of squad management.
The only way I think permanent 5 subs would make sense would be if there was a rule that 2 of those subs had to be made in the first half. That would give teams the ability to respond to injuries without impacting their decisions later, while most managers seem wary of making subs in the first half unless things are really disastrous, so it doesn't give a benefit to teams with bigger squads.
But maybe the rule makers are wary that every team would just start making subs right at 45mins to get around it or something
