By Laboured Go To PostThere's no one in the backroom staff to realistically do care taker duty, such is their level of inexperience (Carrick / McKenna) or just unsuitability (Phelan).Sounds like they are having doubts re Conte too.
They're basically forcing him to get the best out of the next 3 and then sacking him, because his relationship with the squad is not yet too toxic to continue.
Not sure if they can expect a Haag or Poch to arrive if they're still in roles at their current club.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostConte doubts seem to be built on goofy arguments like United DNA and such malarkey.the fact that so many fans fall for it.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostConte doubts seem to be built on goofy arguments like United DNA and such malarkey.I think the general consensus is that Uniteds board hate confrontation and don't want to appoint a manager that will challenge them on their failures. So instead they're briefing journalists about their doubts over his profile as a manager. It's just a cover for the real reason.
It would make sense for the Glazers to do anything possible to avoid a manager that will criticize them or direct any further ire their way. Even Ferguson was a bit of a yes man for them
United have done fairly well in the transfer market lately (Varane, Sancho, Ronaldo, etc) which tends to be the cause of friction with Conte.

So instead they're briefing journalists about their doubts over his profile as a manager. It's just a cover for the real reason. The easy solution to this is to give Conte what he wants. Not like United are strapped for cash when it comes to transfers. But yeah, you might be right it’s just a convenient excuse.

Didn’t they also almost go bankrupt?
Yeah not sure I would blame Conte for leaving Inter when they basically decided to sell off half his team. Not like he stormed out of Chelsea either, he just got sacked for his poor second season.
The thing that bothers me the most about our recent performances is that Solksjaer and the coaches seem to have forgotten what Fergusons United sides were actually like.
If Ferguson got even a whiff of our defence underperforming he set up the side to drop back 10 yards deeper and play exclusively on the break. This season our defence has been shaky from the very beginning, but we've become more and more gung in attack, which culminated in that disastrous attempt at pressing from the front and leaving McFred to do the work of 5 players.

I’m not talking about him leaving. I’m talking about him complaining even after they’d bought him loads of players.
Anyway, I’m not arguing that we shouldn’t sack Solskjaer for Conte. We probably should. But I see why the board might not want him, which was what I originally responded to.

Interesting decision to drop our competent defenders for the reserves tonight. REAL interesting.
Oh he's playing Burge as well. We should be fined for this.

Some great chances at the end there. Think if you had a better squad you’d be knocking on Europe’s door.
