I want a bald man.
Zidane or Hag
I doubt Zidane would get the best out of those players. He doesn’t strike me as a coach which is what Utd need. Someone like Conte would be good for them.
Ole is still employed today. Joke club

Perhaps he was right about Shaw after all 🤭

He got some pots in the cabinet.
A few trophies won doesn't automatically make his tenure better. Mourinho was poison at United and left the squad in tatters.

He was a miserable cunt who played miserable football and alienated the likeable players. Was done with him after his comments after the Seville game.
We didn’t once play football well in his entire reign save some Ibra moments. He was a coward who played coward’s football. I’d rather have Moyes and LVG back over him.

We recorded the fewest goals scored in our prem history, before that was broken by Mou.

The recent performances have been very bad, which has exacerbated the recency bias.

Ole overall.
The Mou revisionism is hilarious because it's obvious the people behind it didn't actually watch us when he was here. Mans was already at that point. You know, the point where he falls out with most of the dressing room which leads to arguments between the players he's fallen out with and the players he hasn't, plays shite football, gets shite results, pisses off the fans and is non stop with the insults towards the players, the club and by extension fans. The point he reached multiple times before us and at Spurs after us. The Mourinho special that he is famous for and hasn't shown that he can do anything about it other than accelerate it.
A lot of it comes down to how you feel about football as a hobby, I agree with n8, in that I want to have fun watching my team. I watch Spurs play roughly 50-60 times a season, even if we won multiple tournaments in a season, I still don't want to hate what I'm watching for the other 55 games a year. It's a hobby, I don't win anything if Spurs win, I don't go in to my office in full kit and a medal round my neck.
Even when we were top under Mourinho, you could tell how much the Spurs fans on here weren't having fun watching an optional hobby. We were never top under Poch, but the football was exhilerating.

Yep. 100%
By JesalR Go To PostA lot of it comes down to how you feel about football as a hobby, I agree with n8, in that I want to have fun watching my team.I think that’s where the split occurs, yes. I find it all entertaining on some level regardless of the actual football being played on the pitch, let alone superficial stuff like style. Obviously winning is preferable to losing on just about every level but being shit and watching an implosion happening in real time can be entertaining in its own way. People watch horror movies for the same reason lol.
Like, the 2015/2016 Mourinho implosion was obviously a disaster but fuck me if it wasn’t entertaining and utterly insane. I like my football with some chaos.

Ah I can’t relate then. When my team wins I feel like I win.
Switching gears a bit even in the nfl I have longed for the Titans to just be relevant. And we finally are god bless King Henry. But we’re a super bowl contender now. If we don’t win it the season is a failure. Even if we go 13-4 or whatever and make it to the Super Bowl and lose. Abject failure.

By Punished* Go To PostGood thing about being a Liverpool fan is that they play great football and win big trophies.
Tbh, when it comes to leagues and even some cup runs , the two really should go hand in hand. You don't win a league by being shit for most of it. Even the most dour of Mou title winning sides were easily capable of moments of excellent play.
By domino Go To PostAh I can’t relate then. When my team wins I feel like I win.To be clear, I've absolutely loved the two or three times in my life that Spurs have actually won something, it felt fantastic. Most recently though, our 08 Carling cup win didn't make the dreadful Juande Ramos football the happened either side of it any easier to watch and any more fun.
It's probably worth noting that posters in this thread almost exclusively support teams that, in the last two decades, have been serial winners. I'd imagine most of you have watched a fair bit of winning football and also good looking football at the same time. Can't say I've had the same with Spurs

Didn’t make the titles any less sweet though. Especially the RVP year where he more or less papered over some poor general play. That’s why I adore him off the back of just one amazing season

Absolutely.
Though when it comes to dour Mou sides I was more thinking of 2015 where we essentially shut up shop for the last third of the season. The 2004-06 iterations of Chelsea were a great watch with some real attacking verve - the defense was just on a completely different planet at the time that it coloured the perception.

Herrera up hazard’s arse? Fun times
Like I said yday - my fave United game was the 2-1 at Anfield under Gaal. Played so well. And then followed by Fellaini brutalising City. What a week.
Still don't want Conte as I don't think he's the right fit for the squad. But I don't think there's anyone else who is realistically available.
Juanfield!
Even during our darkest times we've had some gud comebacks against citeh. It never lasts tho.

Give it Brucey 'til the end of t' season!

I can just imagine United hiring another caretaker manager who probably isn't good enough but still seems an improvement over the previous disaster so gets the job full time
