we got some nice % of future sales clauses in there
By cRrusheR Go To PostIf I were Woodward I would also be asking questions regarding the need for another midfielder. Yes a top dm would improve the team of course, but there were so many things wrong with the team these last two games, don’t know how anyone can look at them and say “a dm will fix this”.
The team is going backwards imo, the problem used to be low blocks, then it became low blocks + high press, and now it’s overall ability to string passes.
The issues are all interconnected, to be honest with you:
1) our starting goalkeeper isn't comfortable playing out from the back, which means that teams that press high are able to limit his influence at beginning moves, so he moves it quickly onto the CBs, which leads to...
2) our starting centre backs (up to this point, Lindelof and Maguire) are strong passers of the ball and both comfortable playing out from the back, but are susceptible to pressing also which means that they often play the ball quickly and either use the full backs as outlets or the closest midfielder. This should be a little better when Varane settles, as he's faster and stronger than Lindelof, and better against high-pressing teams. But at the moment, this leads to...
3) our full backs being used as primary attackers; Shaw in particular is crucial to our build up because he can carry the ball, he links up well with Pogba and Rashford, he's a good crosser and set piece taker, he's fast, etc. The issue is our left-side is predominantly where our attacking takes place, because Pogba tends to drift out there and whoever is on the right (Greenwood typically, but James and Sancho too) also like to come inside, which means that Wan-Bissaka is left to carry a lot of our right-sided burden and is often isolated because our attacking players are all on the other side of the pitch and our central midfielder isn't strong enough to support AWB defensively.
The reason why the right DM is so important is because they can help with a lot of these issues. Having someone more competent on the ball and better at being pressed than Fred and Matic means the CBs don't need to initialise moves so often and can cover for an anchorman picking up the ball in the right positions. Someone a little better defensively than Fred would be helpful too, but the issue really is that when Fred wins the ball back, he is either susceptible to the press or too rash on the ball. I think Jorginho, for all the hate he gets, would be very good for our side (although potentially alongside a Fred would be better). Fabinho would be ideal, but whatever.
That said, I ultimately think we are too top heavy. I don't think we CAN fit Pogba, Fernandes and three attackers into the same team and look cohesive. I think it'd be for the best for our long-term plans if we sold Pogba and worked around fielding Sancho, Fernandes, Rashford and Greenwood all together, because as long as Pogba stays he is a contradiction of being too good a player to drop (and on his day when he plays in an advanced role, one of the very best in the league) but also leads to an imbalance in our side when he is ostensibly a central midfielder and therefore Ole thinks we also need to play three attackers alongside him. He isn't a central midfielder. He's an attacking midfielder. And any ideas to play him in a 3 with Bruno and one other, especially people not good at being anchor man like Fred or Matic, leads to our side being too imbalanced and top heavy and it's a case of too many cooks.
I'd play McTominay as anchorman to be honest. I know he's more box-to-box, but he's really good under pressure and far better at playing out of a press than the other two options there. If he can be trained and coached to keep position more and leave the marauding to others, he'd be fine.
By Laboured Go To PostGood move for all.Think Felix would be great in a setup that is not Atletico's.
By Plasma Go To PostNot sure about that new RB we're signing it sounds like he's more of a CB that can also play at RB a bit like a Japanese Chambers.Fucking hell Plasma lmfao

Neither.
By maxpower Go To PostIs Felix a bust or does Simeone's style of play suck? Not worth what Atlético paid but Simeone's style of game is definitely not suitable for Felix.
By Frustrated_me Go To PostWhy not both?Because it's not, Simeone is a bricklayer. João is wasting is talents at this fucking grinta bullshit.

18/19 year old gets an offer accepted for 120 million euros to play in one of the biggest clubs in Europe, I wouldn't expect the kid to know any better.

Tomiyasu is definitely a wonderkid in FM. I've never seen him play but at that price he seems like he's worth a punt.
I want City to sign a player or two today even if they're a prospect just for the fun of it.. get in James Sands and leave him at NYCFC for the rest of the season.

I don't know the boy, but looking at their squad LB is the only real weakness.
If City get another fullback what's the outline of Pep's spending on FBs? Someone update the figure for me.
I meant PSG in the post above, didn't see the City shit. Allah no. If you can win a league with Zinchenko, keep trying brothers.
Kounde not coming anymore? Whatever who cares he was shit in that one match with France during the Euros
By n8 dogg Go To PostI don't know the boy, but looking at their squad LB is the only real weakness.Could easily be PSG's starting LB for the next 12 years.
Pretty sure that's who Atleti are trying to bring in as cover for Saul. Would be funny if Sporting are successful and it torpedoes Chelsea's move for Saul.
