Could be a play to push Lal Liga back o nthe CVC purchase you suppose, but I doubt it'll work.
I suspect they told Messi when he came back from holiday that they'd have to cut down his contract even further.

By Laboured Go To Post£95m deal with Abu Dhabi Umbrellas incoming.
Hope he comes to the Premier League.
Kind of remarkable.
By Marston Go To PostBarcelona are fully finished.I don't think they could have possibly prepared for a post-Messi life worse, really.
Kind of remarkable.
Beat Bielsa FC twice yesterday. Our U23's by 3-1 in the afternoon and our first team by 4-0 in the evening. And I was finally at the stadium again to witness our boys play. Really missed a proper footy game in the stadium, onwards to saturday.

In about a decade they've gone from being the gold standard of running a football club to an absolute fucking mess. Tough to have much sympathy given the aura of smugness that surrounds the club.

To be fair, they also got a bit lucky with the insane amount of talent coming out of La Masia combined with some good transfer business. That simply created one of the best teams to have ever played. The shitshow they've created since is quite something though.
By inky Go To PostPoch really gonna have Messi, Neymar, Mbappe…He'd still fuck it up. Can't wash the Spurs out of him.
By inky Go To PostPoch really gonna have Messi, Neymar, Mbappe…Still don’t win the league
Sparing a thought for Griezmann who (somewhat undeservedly) is about to cop the most stunning amount of fan backlash ever.

Barca will be alright. If they had sense they'd let Griezmann start running the attack. He's still a brilliant footballer despite not really getting the opportunity to shine alongside Messi.
As brilliant as Messi still is, he didn't contribute much to defence coz he didn't have the legs for it. They might become a less brilliant side, but one that functions better.

i dont think theyll be challenging for the CL anytime soon

Yeah obviously. But if you look at 10/11 Barca, they had Valdes, Pique, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Messi and Pedro playing a boatload of minutes. It's quite unique to have 8 youth products play so much. That's a one of a kind generation. As we can see now they haven't had much talent coming trough the ranks.
By Cleff Go To PostBarca will be alright. With Koeman running the show and no Messi? Nah.

Dest-Lenglet-??-Alba
Busquests-De Jong-Pedri
Depay-Aguero-Griezmann
Got the likes of Fati and Moriba coming through. Coutinho and Dembele maybe have a chance to shine without Messi. They're probably not going to fall out of the CL places at least.
Given he’s one of the greatest players of all time leaving a club he served for the best part of 2 decades, this last 12 months might be contextually the shittiest send off ever.
By inky Go To PostOMG, you just reminded me Aguero moved to Barca to play with his m8Don't be mean, he's not that kind of player.

honestly it is sad that his last match in a Barca shirt was to an empty stadium
At least it probably is not the last time he'll be at the Camp Nou

It's still crazy to me how our back up rwb walked into Barca's XI
Could be some sort of power play.

Then again, you can get shitshows like us getting twatted by Palace on Gerrard's final home game, then piling in against Stoke on the last day of the season.
