By Baki Go To PostArteta is shit and out of his depth. We should fire him now. Surprised to see you in the give him more time wagon. Why is that?
I'm just tired of all the negativity.
I was 100% against his appointment, but the club decided to appoint him with a clear goal.
I don't think he has been good enough, but he is still learning. And I think it can't be understated how huge an impact no fans in the stadium have had.
Give him a few more months and if there are still no improvements, bin him.
By Hitch Go To PostOn the other hand, imagine the atmosphere at the Emirates in December if there had been fans there
But it might not have gotten that bad if fans had been there from the start.
Was looking back at Arsenal vs Sampdoria in the 94/95 CWC semi. I was at the game at Highbury. That Samp team was great. Mancini, Evani, Salsano, and Lombardo now all part of the coaching staff for Italy. Zenga a legendary keeper, Jugovic, and Vierchowod. Managed by Sven.
Highbury game ended 3-2 and then the reverse result in Genoa. Won it on penalties to head back to the final.

What the fuck hahaha
… is he wrong? That’s partially why we have such a (one-sided) rivalry with Germany

He is right (sadly). But it’s a very…..un-Southgate thing to say haha
A lot don’t, unfortunately. Pretty sure many think colonising so many countries meant ‘we gave them opportunities they wouldn’t have otherwise’.
Anyway, I think what Gareth said is right if sounding a little… well, Little Englander. Obviously there’s a lot of nuance missing from it which is unfortunate, but I remember all the talk when Angola played Portugal at one of the more recent world cups - it’s similar to that (while being completely fucking different)
I think a lot of modern English identity is so heavily predicated on Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain and Churchill and an unhealthy fucking obsession with WW2 that it’s no surprise it seeps into our sports.

I think it's been refreshing to see the national team mostly avoid leaning into that jingoistic bollocks.
I also think that the makeup of the England team is a lot more representative of the modern citizen. It's probably why some of the media, fan reaction to then feels like such a contrast.

No other European power colonised the world.
Just the English.
All just jealous we were better at it than them.

How you dealing with the wait for your first international final?

I am all for that as long Northampton can be transported elsewhere.
They do make good shoes.

Surprisingly zen. I’m convinced we’re losing so I don’t really feel that nervous. I’m sure it’ll be very different at quarter to eight in the pub tomorrow. I know if we’re one-nil up with minutes to go I’ll be a fucking disaster.
Just proud of the lads and had loads of fun this summer. All worth it even if we lose.

I envy you, I am doing my head in.
This is my fifth final, but I still can't think of anything else.
Seoul is facing its strictist lockdown measures since last April (1200 cases and I see England had 36,000 cases, fucking hell), so I am just in all weekend in front of the computer. Just been watching past glories. 82, 06, and Totti greatness.
Maybe some will think I play a character, but i genuinely can't see us losing, I never do. In my head I am just waiting for the coronation.
Footballs coming Rome

Also zen. Thought I'd be more nervous for the Denmark game than the final and yep, that's how I feel. Not because I think Denmark would be a harder game, it won't be, but because I just want to experience an international final. And no matter what happens in the game...I will experience that.
The actual game I think is a coin flip. No outcome would surprise me.

i think it is natutral to feel that way about semi finals. When everyone was saying during the Italy-Spain game that both sides were shit and england were gonna destroy either, all I was thinking was that international semi finals hit differently. Nobody wants to lose. So both sides are gonna play cautiously. Then the next semi was played the same way.
Nobody wants to fuck up and be the reason they are not playing in the final. Much different than a CL semi that is two legged and happens every year.

Agreed, but that feeling is amplified by a huge degree down to our historical inability to get through semi finals.
I mean, the first final in 55 fucking years. It's insane. Hasn't really sunk in yet.
Atmosphere is going to be unspeakably special.

Genuinelly happy you guys get to experience it and I don't think England will go that long again.
I genuinely believe England should be the ABSOLUTE best international side in the world if it wasn't for Southgate.

It will be very hard for England to lose at Wembley, with a packed stadium of their own supporters, after the PL saved UEFA.
Another highly rated young talent about to leave Ligue Un. I'd guess if money wasn't so tight he'd be snapped up by a club already.
By n8 dogg Go To PostI would say losing at home is even more likely due to pressure and expectations

May the best team on the night win. Italy has the far more impressive run in the tournament, but with the players England has I can’t look past them.

England have had a much easier run to the final. None of Englan'ds opponents would rank in the top four teams Italy have faced this Euros.
But you can't control who you face. Thus, England are worthy finalists because they beat everyone in front of them.

Portugal were fucking shit. Germany were awful that game. They might have won 4-2, but that doesn't make them a good team.
And at the end of the day. Italy beat Switzerland. Switzerland beat France. France beat Germany.
