I'll take anything over last season's injury bonanza, what the fuck was that sheeesh.

A PR agency thought this was okay?

lol wtf
[Jose Felix Diaz] Tottenham are asking Real Madrid to play a friendly match this summer, because of a clause included in Gareth Bale's transfer in 2013, that forces Real Madrid to play the friendly against Tottenham
lol wtf
Wonder will the Barca lads ever actually admit that it's just not worth all this hassle just to keep Messi?
By Cleff Go To PostWonder will the Barca lads ever actually admit that it's just not worth all this hassle just to keep Messi? You mean like club officials/representatives? Or by lads do you mean the fans that post here?
I always supported the idea of him leaving since he announced he wanted to at the end of the 2020 season, and I hate that he was forced to stay in the 2021 season - delaying the clubs rebuilding process by a whole year(possibly more).
And now he'll likely renew, which is insane but the club deserves nothing else the way that it's been run.
think its extremely short sighted that theyre essentially gonna throw half the entire team out just to have messi resign

It makes no sense to get rid of half a dozen players just to keep on one player who looks to be leaving in two years anyway. Like, they players Barca are looking to get rid of aren't good enough anyway. But the way they're going about it just leaves them open to potential litigation by those players. They're also taking a huge hit to their reputation and in the end they'll still have no money to sign players.
Yeah exactly.
The problem is that keeping Messi won't win us anything anyway. The rest of the team isn't good enough. So it made no difference keeping him or not in terms of football achievement/results/trophies.
It was best to let him go when he wanted to leave. Save that 100 mil on his wages that season. Get another 100 mil transfer fee from whatever club bought him. And go from there.

Been saying its crazy they didnt cash in on him, would have probably got 200m+ last year had they cashed out when he wanted to leave and started the rebuild process when it was clear it was needed anyways. Now they're going for broke and will likely have nothing to show for it.
Didn't the fans revolt and storm the camp nou and the board caved in? Or am I remembering incorrectly?

Wait, Barca needing to cut 200k is without Messi’s wages, right, since he technically doesn’t play for them?
How the fuck do they plan on registering him?

By Frustrated_me Go To PostDidn't the fans revolt and storm the camp nou and the board caved in? Or am I remembering incorrectly?Nah you're remembering correctly about the fans revolting
But the board didn't cave because of it. Messi was going to be made to stay regardless, fans revolt or not. They weren't listening to offers or sticking to their word of letting him go before his final season(foolish for messi to believe someone's word though). Messi was staying no matter what and that's what made him unhappy.
The fans just wanted the board gone at that point for letting it get to that stage and the incompetence build up over the years

Surprised they didn't want to play wi- OH GOD MY EYES
By Willkiller Go To PostSorry m8, just thought that line was cuteI mean it's obvious in hindsight that Grealish and Rice wouldn't stick with us once England's interest became known. The Grealish one doesn't really bother me as he only ever represented us at underage level and once his talent became obvious England were always going to get him.
The Rice situation leaves a bitter taste though. We capped him three times at senior level. They were in friendlies and he always indicated that he was happy to play for us. Until he stopped showing up.
By Laboured Go To PostSurprised they didn't want to play wi- OH GOD MY EYESGrealish and Rice maybe could have been tempted to play for us if everyone else on the side wasn't terrible. Would still be a long shot, but could maybe give them something to think about. Once upon a time we had Premier League quality players in every position. Now half the side plays in the Championship or League One and I don't know who they are.
It all goes back to John Delaney siphoning off money that should have been used to improve scouting and player development facilities.
All of our midfielders are so much better when they play with a DM.
We should probably get one of those.

I was generally ok with it last season but I suspect the GK thing is going to begin irritating me this season.
Just watched some highlights from the Italy - Spain final in 2012. That Spanish midfield was quite good

You could start any combination of 3-4 of them and it would be an incredible midfield
Roberto Carlos has been impressed by England left-back Luke Shaw with the Brazil great saying ‘Shawberto Carlos’ has everything it takes to go to the top.
Fresh from his best season in a Manchester United shirt, the 25-year-old has caught the eye during the Three Lions’ run to Wednesday’s Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark.
Shaw shone in the 4-0 quarter-final triumph against Ukraine in Rome, where he provided two assists in a complete display that led the nickname ‘Shawberto Carlos’ to gain traction on social media.
Carlos said: “You can see he’s very motivated. He’s really improving, his performance against Ukraine was very good. He’s been an important part of this English team, along with all the others.
“He’s been improving each game and I think he’s got everything to get to the top. He’s the left-back for England, that in itself says a lot.”

Ah. Well. Nevertheless.
Spanish papers saying bar some unforeseen event Griezmann will leave Barca this summer.
Tbh I'm not sure how they can say that with such certainty. He's 30 years old and on €600k per week. Who is gonna pay that?
