Player for player I think Belgium have a better 11 than Italy. But the latter so well drilled. They know exactly where the next player available for a pass is and where to stand to receive that pass.
They play like a league side and that's the highest compliment you can give an international team imo. Most countries set up in a rudimentary fashion. Stay compact in defence and let the attackers get on with in. Makes sense as they have so little time to train together. Italy, on the other hand play like an experienced club side. They're making up for a relative lack in quality through excellent coaching.

Italy have been the superior team. Belgium are setup way too negatively again, been hoofing the ball too much.
Thorgan Hazard is being told to sit too deep. Once the ball reaches KDB/Lukaku/Doku it looks like we can hurt Italy badly in 1v1s.
Tielemans is a nothing player, he's sitting next to Witsel to help defend but he has no pace, no bravery. He can't tackle. He doesn't help on the transition either because he doesn't have the technical abilities to beat a press on the turn. He's passing backwards every single time and forcing the 3 CBs to just dump it long.
The issue is Belgium doesn't really have a good option in CM to help link with KDB. The only attacking options are wingers or strikers. Carrasco or Mertens will come on sooner than later. Don't think Doku should be taken off yet though. He's just won the penalty.

Italian positioning is way superior. Looks like they have an additional player but they just block easy passing lanes and are able to close down Belgium in their own half. Just extremely impressive.
