A lot of sites and forums don't do this. So y u do dis? Sharp pls
I middle click, elsewhere like when I'm working and things like that. But it's not often I come across links that don't open new tabs automatically today.

Also, when clicking on links from the forum, it doesn't open a new tab. So it takes me away from the thread I was in.Learn to middle click bro.
Fix dat shit, clown.
(Might be nice for this to be configurable but different people have different preferences on this. I don't think there's one right answer).
I think there's one right answer. New tab. Design used to be same-tab etiquette back in the day when everyone didn't have a toaster with enough processing power to run 50 tabs at once, but that's no longer a thing. Having to back-arrow to get back to the page, wait for it to load, then scroll down to the post I was at once I'm done reading is just too many steps compared to just closing the new tab. I don't think it's particularly ergonomically sound.
That's fair. I'm not sure whether the standard has changed, but at one point it was actually considered nonstandard to do this, and the reasoning behind it was that it is trivial in a browser to configure links to open in a new tab and nontrivial to force links destined for a new tab or window to open in the same one. From what it sounds like the overwhelming consensus is that this is no longer an issue, though. Also, when clicking on links from the forum, it doesn't open a new tab. is FuckTheKnicks.com available? Might as well just call the forum that. Or FTK.
you say that but then the forum would be full of knicks fans trust me....
shit with a title like that it could become a new hub for knick fans around the internet, right now.
Anyhow I think it should be "Fill in the blank community" as a nod to the fact this is basically an alternative to a few of the community threads...... maybe "OT Community" or the Off Topic Forum.....
idk
Overcame a roadblock today, and now it's full speed ahead into the User Experience and User Interface development. I should be making quite a bit of good progress the next couple of days.
Peoples,
UX and UI work was started last night. We have more or less the core functionality down with a few more feature integrations to go.
More updates this weekend!

Aye, for some reason I'm getting this weird text resizing nonsense when I first load up a page. It starts out like 10pt font and then refreshes and becomes large.
Using Safari on OSX Mavericks.
Just thought I'd give a heads up. Keep up the good work.

just wanted to ask is there time interval before the next post can be made like GAF?
when I wanted to make a post it gave me a message, I forget what it was. Just had to keep clicking submit repeatedly until it finally posted.

It'd be nice if you included more options in the quick reply. Just some font, img and url tags would be sweet.

Yep. Still debating, but a good quick reply might eliminate the need for dedicated reply page. The extra features are superficial at best.
When using mobile it'd be great to have the option that goaf offers to click at the top and immediately be brought to the bottom of the page and likewise for the top.
Can it have a daps system like the coli?what's that?
Its basically a reputation system but they call it daps
basically lets say somebody says or post something you like, you press a button and they get 1 Rep point. Unlike other rep systems you can't negative rep using the Dap system. So its not a tool to ostracize others, so much as its a way of rewarding posters for content/opinions that you find agreeable. the biggest plus of it is it cuts down on replies to comments like "I agree" or "good point" because instead of doing that you just dap the original post you agree with.
On the low besides the coli avi heads its in my opinion the best feature of the site and some people treat it like their COD k/d ratio of the number of daps they have in comparison to their post. Also I think its a major reason the Coli which is more or less a wide open forum has so few blatant trolling because you look at the daps a poster has (and the reputation since they have that too) and you can easily see if the poster is full of shit and ignore their trolling accordingly.
ah that would be a cool system to have.
Yep its really helpful deterrent to trolls and like I said it avoids the other form of trolling of posters giving out negative reps as well.
Can it have a daps system like the coli?I've used it on other forums before and I hated it.
Eventually it came to people fishing for others to rep them, and then people would turn it into rep wars.

Yeah, I don't even like post counts on my forums anymore.

That's why you don't allow for negative reps.... But whatever it sounds like you guys know what you want to do anyway so I'm gonna stop making suggestions.....

Oh please don't take this as me not appreciating your suggestions or anything. We are just extremely focused on providing a good core experience first and any and all feedback/suggestion is seriously considered.
So don't stop providing feedback. I don't have ultimate veto power or anything so if this is a feature people really want we'll consider adding it in, but it might not happen for a while given all of the hurdles we gotta overcome.
Just to echo what reilo is saying: we're working on solving pretty fundamental stuff right now, like keeping track of last updated counts when posts are deleted and restored (tricky due to interaction with some other features we have), making sure avatars are displayed alongside posts, figuring out funds, and setting up secure authentication so we don't get hacked. It's always fun to talk about features and I definitely encourage anyone with an idea to voice it, but odds are they aren't going to be at the top of the queue for a while.
Appreciate how comfortable you all are with feedback. Other places throw bans out for any criticism like that.

If we aren't doing it for the community, who are we doing this for?
would be cool if we could get team flags next to our username and get different trag rewards if we hold on to it. :)
on the new board i mean.

I think we should lose the post counts. Encourages spam imo. **cough**Forever**cough** :pThe current plan is post counts in the user profile, but not on every page.

Hi sunshine. Don't act a fool.
Slight update: Integrated bbcode parsing.
The following bbcodes will be available: b, i, u, s, list (and *), quote, code, center, color, url, img

Just came up with an idea: How about if you double click a quoted message it actually sends you to the original post? Like the GAF feature but slicker.
What do you mean by "slicker"?Hi sunshine. Don't act a fool.Oh, center. Great. Always wanted that.

What do you mean by "slicker"?Instead of having a little arrow above each quote, you could just click the quote bubble itself. Just an idea.
i think that would cause a lot of ... hot zones... on the screen. not really what you want in a relaxed design. What do you mean by "slicker"?Instead of having a little arrow above each quote, you could just click the quote bubble itself. Just an idea.
remember. a fair number of people post drunk from their mobiles.

And chance of getting spoiler tags?
(I miss them.)

Yep. I'll add those in. Shouldn't be difficult at all.
