I wish From Software was more my cup of tea. I played a bit of Bloodborne and I can tell it was quality, but it didn't really ever gel with me.
By Hixx Go To Postmy list of greatest evils in the entire world:There's so much more to choose from.
1. anime and cat fans
2. anime fans
3. cat fans
Coldplay fans, Newcastle fans, Will, Ludono during CS, football club owners, Don Mattrick.
A list leaked with some titles that will be shown on the next days. Nothing really memorable but two caught my eye : A Plague Tale Requiem and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.
By Daz Go To PostElden Ring looks a 2017 game.I rewatched the 4k/60 trailer a couple of times and I'm more bothered by the Dark Souls aesthetic than the outdated graphics. I've no doubt I'll get sucked into the world once I start playing it, but I was really hoping for a significant departure in terms of style/era, much like Bloodborne was. And Sekiro, though I was sadly not into that.
I think part of my disappointment stems from the fact that I convinced myself that Martin's involvement - as negligible as it will likely turn out to be in the grand scheme of things - was due to Miyazaki tackling something he wasn't perfectly comfortable with in terms of lore and worldbuilding, which would then organically reflect in the way the game looks and feels.
The trailer seems to suggest a slight variation on the DS theme at best, with not much space for doubt, but I'm still pumped.

Looked like more dark souls to me.
Same aesthetic
Same mood and tone.
Same move sets.
After all the hype I was expecting more than just more Dark Souls.
over a decade of Dark Medieval Fantasy - it's starting to wear thin. At least BB threw some cosmic horror/intrigue in there.
I hope its packing a surprise for people.
This reaction shows the next natural step has to be anime souls. Yurt some need blue chew for a whole year if that happens
Given that it's a new IP and shifting from the Souls moniker, I really hope they'll bin the die-and-replay-the-same-shit-repeatedly mechanic that has plagued their other games. I don't mind hard but I do mind hard and repetitive.

they outright said it's a successor to Dark Souls. It's Dark Souls 4 with new mythology, we knew this years ago. If you were 'expecting a significant departure in terms of style/era' this is on you.

And Sekiro, though I was sadly not into that.I was always expecting something like this. Given that GRRM was writing the backstory of the world, but the main story was still very much the child of Miyazaki, it always felt that his style would carry over.

Either way that's the 2nd trailer, so I'll wait a bit.
Still kinda curious how much work GRRM actually put into the world.

By Pennywise Go To PostStill kinda curious how much work GRRM actually put into the world. There's potential for an absolutely sensational artbook / lorebook with this collab. Nothing to do but wait and see.

No of course not, I completed ithem all on my first try. But the point is countless other, less capable, less brilliant players are put off by the mechanic. I believe in inclusivity, brother.

Hollow Knight etc all follow the same formula, and most Roguelites to some extent. You're in the wrong neighbourhood
By Wahabipapagooz Go To Postthat demo though. yikes. i know action, that isnt itaw man. It's not deep like DMC or anything, just dumb stylish fun like Nier. I need this right now please understand
I don’t get people wanting to change games. There’s hundreds that come out every month, just play something else.
Gamers and their stupid ass FOMO. That’s why GameStop launched a day 1 edition credit card all those years ago.
