I know Sancho is fast, but does he play on the shoulder of his fullback like Sterling can? Or is he more similar to Foden/Grealish in preferring move towards the ball?
Bit disappointing if we have to start Sterling just to prevent from getting into a position where every single attacking player on the pitch wants to move backwards to collect the ball. He's been dreadful for months.

By Kidjr Go To PostReally think you could flip a coin between all four them. Grealish probably with least deserving.Sancho is world class, Grealish isn't far off. Mount and Foden are both good for their age, but they're quite a way off being as good as the other two
Mount is fantastic but not a winger, really not a winger. Sancho is a winger, Grealish is also mostly a winger (right?), so is Foden from what I know. But I wouldnt know. He's usually in ghost mode when I watch City.
By Kidjr Go To PostFoden is currently better the grealish tho
I disagree with this, but I wouldn’t start either over Sterling or Sancho. Think one of those two and one of Mount/Grealish/Foden is a good balance.
I don't think there is anything between sancho and foden in terms of ability tbh. Sancho is further ahead in his development for sure but genuinely splitting hairs between them. They're both better than grealish but mount has had the best form over past 12 months easily.

It's a great problem to have but I agree that combination is the balance you want.

If I had to compromise I’d have Sterling and Sancho over Grealish and Foden, easy. Latter two would cramp the middle and wouldn’t run into the space Kane dropping deep creates.
I think you're massively overrating Foden. Statistically he's a good AM, good goalscoring stats albeit for a team that tends to run up big scores against mediocre opposition. Otherwise, he doesn't impress against any of the others, certainly he's a long way from Sancho. Grealish is a much better creative player, and if they were in the same team I wouldn't bet on Fodens goalscoring being much different

By FortuneFaded Go To PostIs he resting Shaw and Chilwell since they were both in the European finals?
5 players starting that were
Hardest group game by far and we're starting players out of position and out of form. I do not like it.
Rebic as the CF, that could be interesting. The guy is hot and cold, but when he is hot then we have some rockets to look forward to.
Glad to hear Eriksen is a OK. Listening to Football Weekly, they all sound very devastated. Barry literally cried multiple time during the podcast. Harrowing stuff really.
The fact none of the fine Englishmen here can agree about a power ranking for Sterling/Sancho/Grealish/Mount/Foden/Rashford says it all. Can't wait for the debates about the attacking line up every game, especially after the inevitable lacklustre results.
That being said it shouldn't be too surprising that Sterling and Trippier are starting, they've been loyal servants for Sir Gareth over the past few years.
Trippier starting at LB over Shaw and Chilwell in their current form is mindboggling though. Proper 5D chess move that. Back 4 with Mings is suspect too.
Anyway Croatia are nowhere near as strong as they were 3 years ago, England will probably win comfortably enough.

By Pennywise Go To PostEngland will go under like all those teams that tried to battle it out with Believe FC yesterday.
nothing stops that train (except asking the any for passes every second)
warning, VERY LOUD for whatever reason. shadowplay really wants you to hear my beautiful laugh
Sancho is the best English player I have since since David Platt. You only don’t start him if his injured. And even then you still play him in must wins games if he is 70% fit because he is still 70% better than every other English player.

Football Ramble was pretty sobering as well, especially in comparison to the giddy excitement the day before.
Gareth Fucking Southgate 😂
Pickford in goal
Has two world-class left-backs to pick from but plays a right-back there instead
Starts Phillips the least talented midfielder in the squad
Doesn't play Rashford or Grealish but instead picks Sterling the most out of form player with the worst stats for the season.
Slow clap

Wow, not a single United player selected? Excellent selection. Couldn't have picked it much better myself 👍
But on a serious note they only particularly baffling thing is Trippier.

Told my mum that England were playing today and she had no idea what the Euros are and that it was happening this summer
By Freewheelin Go To PostAssume Trippier has been picked for set-pieces…..otherwise lolTripper & Phillips vs Shaw & JWP.
This is why I picked Namdaemun as my coach of the tournament.
Gonna get England to a semi final with the bare minimum

Still… I don’t get it. Exclude Rashford who needs the rest? Or White who you weren’t originally bringing?
