By Willkiller Go To PostSure, like I said there are big problems with the impact these kind of shows can have on people. No doubt. But let's be honest here….you didn't say that….you saidDid you miss the part where i explained that because the men in that video haven't had plastic surgery i only spoke about the women who have? Before i commented in the first place i took the time to watch that video because i was expecting the male contestants to be the typical roided out, low IQ, hyperaggressive, gym obsessed, protein farting, walking STD 'lads' that usually feature in these shows but i was pleasantly surprised to see that most of them were decent people. But hey thanks for telling me what i was 'actually thinking'. Also in case you haven't noticed this is a forum where people give lowbrow 'funny' responses and a 1000 word thesis explaining every intricacy of what they meant isn't how people do things here.
"Has anybody checked to see if those women are safe to be out in the sun without all that plastic in their face and bodies melting? I genuinely also question anybody that wants to date somebody with the IQ of a plank of wood."
Which again….this isn't a "won't someone think of the children" post, it's a bit of a wanker comment that attacks the women and the women only. Let's call a spade a spade here.
I don't get the logic that Mount and Chillwell need to isolate because they were around Gilmour but the Scottish national team who are with him all the time don't have to.
Plastic surgery has become mainstream and it’s honestly a bit disconcerting how often I hear it from both women and men, people just willing to blow up their lips and do whatever to their skin. Shows like Love Island certainly don’t help matters. Plastic surgery can be helpful in some cases though, for example I have a friend who put on some boobs and she did it because for her entire life they had been a source of insecurity.
As far as the lack IQ or culture of the contestants is concerned, it’s probably a necessity for the type of entertainment it provides, and it doesn’t make them bad people. I watched an entire season, which featured Pogba’s twin and a great bromance, and I didn’t came away thinking these were geordie shore people, I actually became quite fond of some of them. At least they don’t seem to be drunk all the time, which used to be par for the course.

Look m8, basically you made a comment that made you sound like Piers Morgan. I called it out and you asked me to elaborate...so I did!
Your explanation doesn't change the fact that the initial comment again sounded exactly like something Piers Morgan would say.
If I ever make a comment that sounds like Piers Morgan.....please call me out on it so I can correct it. Please.

So actually.....I think everything I said there could be considered more or less a fact. Perhaps other people would disagree that you sounded like good ol' Piers.....but I doubt it
By bacoNL Go To PostNah we can back that up with evidence. It is a fact you sound like Piers Morgan because he has the same view on plastic surgery.Ah yes because there's no such thing as nuance and human beings are either good or bad and nothing in-between. Every person that is considered bad only has bad opinions and every person that is considered good only has good opinions.

So if Piers Morgan thinks excessive plastic surgery is bad tHaT MuSt mEaN PlAsTiC SuRgErY Is AcTuAlLy GoOd.
And of course the person who he was talking about looks 'absolutely fantastic' and delving further into the topic there definitely aren't people who suffer with body dysmorphia and there definitely aren't people who after ruining their faces and bodies with plastic surgery commit suicide also like the guy in the article.
By Willkiller Go To PostSnipLiterally your argument is Piers Morgan doesn't like plastic surgery or Love Island so there for the opposite must be true. Genuinely embarrassing.

His columns are reactionary trash and the polar opposite of nuanced.

No, my argument was that your comments sounded like something he would say. Based on the fact there are dozens and dozens on instances of him saying the exact same thing........
Look m8 it's not that deep, you just asked me to elaborate.
I'm not saying you are exactly like Piers Morgan (a cunt), I'm saying in that particular instance you were evocative of him. That's all.

doicare with the big incel energy shocking no one
they don't even seem stupid? one girl is a marketing exec, another works on eu exit policy, and i'm sure the others have something going for them. no doubt one or two will be completely thick, but it looks to be fairly representative of the population. no need to be so judgemental.
plastic surgery aint even that bad, you're not better than someone for choosing to stay ugly

Never once did I said it did. The only point I made was about the bolded.
Ah yes if people keep throwing around labels it must be true, if you can't handle the facts just say incel. If you think those women on Love Island represent what that average women looks like or behaves like then you're genuinely deluded, they're picked for a very specific reason. Also if you think no plastic surgery = ugly then you're part of the problem.

the thing about love island is that it's a huge platform and even those who stay on a week can make hundreds of thousands of british dollars for what is basically a boring vacation. many of these "dummies" will walk away with more money than most of us will ever have.

your first retort was 'well actually i'm just attacking the women' so obviously you're gonna give off incel energy? you've noticed that the women are more likely to have plastic surgery, yet instead of realising it's a consequence of the pressures they face, you attack them for it...

My biggest problem with Love Island is its rocky record with protecting the mental health of the people involved.
It's my main issue with most shows of that ilk tbh.

By R436 Go To PostMy biggest problem with Love Island is its rocky record with protecting the mental health of the people involved.absolutely and if we're being honest shows like this shouldn't exist. at least they improved quite a bit last season with how they're handling the mental side of it and hopefully this season too but at the end of the day they make up the storylines and make people into villains for everyone to hate.
It's my main issue with most shows of that ilk tbh.
These days I think young men are under higher pressure than young women, if we take into account the countless hours they need to invest at the gym, and the amount of money they spend on food and supplements. I’ve noticed how every actor now needs to look like a super hero, which is just absurd.
By Doicare Go To PostSo you think excessive plastic surgery and having a low IQ is a good thing and they should be glamourised on TV shows? My opinion on plastic surgery and its prevalence on TV is irrelevant. I was commenting on the similarity between your opinions and those of the lovely Piers Morgan.
But if you do want to know, I don't think these kinds of programs and the C-tier celebrity stardom that comes with it are particularly glamorous to begin with. Most people I know watch these kind of TV shows with the same fascination as watching monkeys throw shit at eachother at the zoo.
And I don't fucking care what these people do with their bodies. It's none of my business. Yes there exists a minority who become addicted to surgery, who try to reach an impossible beauty standard and they are a potential danger to themselves. It is sad but these shows are not nearly as complicit as you make them out to be and shitting on girls with lip fillers ain't it.
By rerixo Go To Posti was clearly talking about their intellect since you kept mentioning 'low iq'No you were talking about both plastic surgery and their IQ. I can only criticise what was in front of me which was the majority of the women having plastic surgery and sounding thick where as none of the guys appeared to have had surgery and the majority of them sounded intelligent. If the show featured intelligent, natural looking women and steroid filled, hyperaggressive moron men i would have criticised the men instead. So cut the crap with this incel bollocks, it's about as productive and dismissive as me waving you away saying you're wrong because you must be a 'snowflake'.

And why do you think women are under 'more pressure' to get plastic surgery? Because shows like this put women on TV glamourising the plastic surgery look.
i wouldn't say that men are under higher pressure at all but it's true that all the men are very swole on that show and in my opinion easily the more attractive gender throughout pretty much every series but i assume this is mostly because the viewership skews towards women lol.
By bacoNL Go To PostMy opinion on plastic surgery and its prevalence on TV is irrelevant. I was commenting on the similarity between your opinions and those of the lovely Piers Morgan. And whether my opinion on this subject happens to be similar to that of Piers Morgan doesn't in anyway invalidate it yet that was the intent of what you posted. If you don't see a link between a significant increase in reality TV show personalities and celebrities getting plastic surgery at an early age and a significant increase in the average person getting plastic surgery at an early age then there's nothing really left to say because in your head it 'must just be a coincidence'.

It’s what happens when it’s not about the experience or the money, most of these people are hungry for fame for the sake of fame. Shows like Love Island explore their needs with little to no accountability.
