By aka Espi Go To PostIs this actually worth it on PC over just modding the original trilogy? The improvements seem substantial for the first game, at least.

Yeah.

Add lots of QoL, bug fixes and gameplay tweaks to this.
there's a current issue with the pc build that some of the random dialogue/elevator stuff won't play. i think people are saying some of the inventory isn't loading too (i didn't even notice the lack of spectre armor til it was mentioned tbh)
but other than that it looks fantastic. biggest complaints about the ME1 remaster is the sound mixing imo

By post-sy Go To Postgo watch the digital foundry videoI would rather ask people who have actually played it
If I wanted Smokey’s opinion I would DM him
ME1 down. My biggest complaints are still the audio. The remaster really shined on the home stretch though. It was also waaaay easier go mix and match between Paragon/Renegade too. Almost maxed both.
Kaiden run continues

So is the Paragon/Renegade thing different now? I don’t remember how it was in the original, but at least at the start of ME1 it feels like I can do either when the situational calls
Yeah I think it is more viable to do both now, which I think is good. Some of the Renegade options have quite good and reasonable dialogue and outcomes that almost feel like they should've been Paragon but whatevs.
the upgrades to 2 are :wow: so far. intro still dope
lmao at being able to bring over all the ME1 money though. feel like yung elon life is ez

Why does Mass Effect 2 look worse than 1 for me? Shit is dark as fuck and the resolutions are a bit off
Ffs I just found out I could've banged the Consort by asking to speak to her manager.
Also I'm gunna try and rail Ashley this time. I like a project.

Also I already know I'm picking Udina this time. Turians are the right call for what comes (I know that doesn't really matter in the game) and they're kinda socialist if also a bit fashy.
Finished ME1. Last couple of missions, especially the final mission, were genuinely fantastic. Sovereign convos, learning about the Protheans through Vigil, nuke choice, climbing up the side of the goddamn Citadel, final Saren convo. Some genuinely good stuff there. Final boss was awful like everything gameplay related, but in the end I can see why this game made such an impression on people.
Put an hour into ME2 after over a decade of not touching it and it feels great. Strangely I can actually see why people prefer ME1 to 2. If ME1 is Star Trek: The Next Generation then ME2 is Deep Space Nine. Not sure if that’s the right comparison but ME2 feels a lot more cynical off the bat. Can’t wait to dive in later though.

By DY_nasty Go To PostI really didn't appreciate Mordin enoughsmh.
Easily one of the best characters. Also one of those conclusions in 3 that works out quite well.
By DY_nasty Go To PostI really didn't appreciate Mordin enoughI always liked Mordin as a character. I don’t think I ever really used him in gameplay though
Whenever I do pick up this game I plan on doing things differently. Gonna try out squad mates I ignored. In the hundreds of hours and dozens of playthroughs I had in ME1, I never used Kaiden or Tali.
ME1 is such a thoughtfully designed and well written game. I’m a different person than I was when I first played it and I’m really appreciating it now.
Indeed Odd.
Shame they didn't do more with the remaster on ME1. They could have made so many improvements both with gameplay and presentation aspects.
Finished 3 just now.
While there are so many great conclusions, it's still a let down in a lot of ways. Real shame because there's so much potential with quite a few things. Strategic elements with the war table that are unused. Conclusions to certain storylines that feel obsolete after the ending.
First time I played the majority of the DLC. Some of it is decent, some feels a bit out of place and more like fanservice. There are some really good DLC parts in 3, but they could have played a far bigger role :/

ME2 assaulting my nostalgia right now. Starts off great but I’m having a hard time sticking with it.
By MonadL Go To PostME2 assaulting my nostalgia right now. taking small break before digging into it heavy

good to know it wasn't just nostalgia that made me like 1 the most lol
Combat wasn't nearly as good as 2 and 3 but the world building and lore was just impeccable

I just didn't waste my time with disgusting hobbies like football.
I'm always kinda burning through ME whenever I play it.
Firewalker/Overlord DLC is absolute garbage. Skip if you can.
Shadow Broker was even better than I remember.
ME2 is a weird fucking game though. I feel like maybe three characters have a kit that works on Hardcore difficulty or higher. Will do the IFF thing and get rekt later today but it's been solid overall. Its just a game with wild highs and lows throughout. Just don't understand how you can put together awesome stuff like generally everything involving Tali then turn around and sign off on a complete wet napkin like Thane.

I was coming to post something similar. The highs and lows of ME2 are intense. I am playing on Insanity difficulty and the combat is super fun and satisfying.
The characters, and their quests, are brilliant. I even like Miranda and Jacob, who weren’t interesting to me first time around. Nothing beats Samara and Morinth though. An old alien inquisitor hunting her depraved soul-sucking daughter, who you lure into a trap by making yourself a tasty victim. Then mama steps in and crunches her face into goop mercilessly.
Then you have planet scanning.
Hey this terrestrial planet which has enough space on it for billions of beings to live? In 2 minutes you drained all of its precious metals and gases. Congratulations, your shotgun now does +50% damage against biotic barriers. I hope it was worth it.
Overall the world feels walled off and restricted, with less opportunity to build your character’s weapons and gear. And you can’t sell stuff, which seems criminal for an RPG. Yet you still have a fair amount of agency when resolving the storylines, which are awesome. Super high peaks, super low nadirs.

ME1 done finally. Did way more stuff than the first time round and took some different paths. Happy enough with it. Looking forward to getting back into ME2.
By Yurtlicious Go To Postgood to know it wasn't just nostalgia that made me like 1 the most lolI'm with you on the world building point. Just finished off ME 1. You can tell this game wa as real labour if love for the devs. The Codex is an incredibly detailed database, especially the secondary tabs which delve into the religion and biology of the Council and non-Council races.

Took a break after suiciding in ME2. Lovely end that gets so fucking weird. I stopped in ME3 right after Palaven. Its just so hard to see ME3 as anything other than a comedy at times lol. Keeping Kaiden alive was a mistake though. His bitchassness only grows.
Combat is way more fun than I remember though.
i've had more audio bugs than anything

Have they implemented anything to tell you when your squad has something new to say in the Normandy?
By Hitch Go To PostHave they implemented anything to tell you when your squad has something new to say in the Normandy?ehhh sorta? at least in ME3 i think. Traynor seems to spam yapp more often
I don't think there's anything in ME2 outside of conflicts and loyalty mission notifications
This is the post where I admit I might've miscalculated by only getting a month of EA pro instead of buying this. I'm not even done with 2.
Fuck paying $75 for it tho.
