By Willkiller Go To Post https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/platzierungen/verein/281It would be disingenuous to suggest that they were anything close to a dominant force before Pep left us and took them to another level. I'm not a prem-head clearly but my idea of challenging for titles is sustained and strong contention. I exaggerated the timeframe but they were a greatly inconsistent project for all of those years and I have an impression that they were carried on the backs of players like Aguero. Nobody would be nearly as grumpy about it if they were the same level of team that they were in 2011.
Oh yeah? Did they really need years and years to start challenging for titles with top tier managers?
In any case that isn't the crux of my argument, and it's hysterical to criticize wealth in football as supporters of teams like Utd and Bayern. Just because City and such made their money differently and spent it more quickly doesn't mean we've suddenly got grounds to poke holes on principle. You said it well enough earlier about the small moral high ground. It's ultimately meaningless. We can feel hard done by the fact that our wealth was "earned" by comparison maybe but that's relative to convenient TV contracts and other variables too. They can be proud of their accomplishments as much as every other rich club. As a player you can be worth any random amount of money to someone for whatever reason but that doesn't translate to effective results just on the theory of it.
If it's any consolation I dislike City generally, but I don't think of them much differently than the other big teams in England even if you guys want to nitpick about how many zillions each teams spends. Most of the big teams built their success over decades and expanded their value but also just so happened to have been bought or owned by similarly wealthy nonsense. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Utd, etc all happen to have fancy rich owners right now that showed up in their capacity not far from when City was bought. It's all relative. Any team that wins the prem out of the big boys is just another cash cow and the differences that lead to the success between them are less based on the sheer volume of money and more on the quality of the football. City could spend all the same money they have in the last 10 years and could just as easily be Arsenal if the situation was a little different. Money helps you acquire talent but winning is hard and I'd be remiss to ignore that as a fan of a club regularly criticized for the wealth disparity we have with our rivals.
Next week could be Lewandowski breaking the goal record, Neuer breaking the clean sheet record, a win against Augsburg, and the trophy celebration, at home.

I guess that's true. Just feel a bit like a waste of the Stamford Fridge.

How did Chelsea not score yet? They are letting Leicester off the hook. Leicester midfield looks way too open atm.

Cup final a few years back I was in the very last row on the top tier... getting up there takes some fucking doing. An old man not-so-jokingly asked a steward if they had any oxygen tanks when he was sat on the steps taking a break getting to his seat 💀
Feel that it's rare that these selection gambles pay off.
Didn't realise the Tyrone game was on TV. Would rather have watched the first half of that.

Got two of those m8. They just dont play.
kind of weird to see a sea of people without masks then some others with the masks as if it'll do anything
Commentators mentioning foreign managers watching the FA Cup finals when they were younger. I don't believe that, that they were aired in Europe in the 70s/80s.

Was shown in Danish tv in the 70's for sure, so I am not sure why it couldnt have been in Germany and so on too.
