By Hitch Go To PostArteta should have been sacked the moment he finished his 'thats just maths' interview. Is that the match where Arsenal had like 100000 crosses into the box, and yet couldn't score?
lol
The fact that no one here has created a Moyteta hybrid premface yet is proof that this place is sliding further into obsolescence.
By domino Go To PostAre Villarreal any good? I barely watched any of their tie.no
By Kidjr Go To PostI mean that has to be the aim. There's lots of reasons or aspects of our game that I think tets improved, its whether he can improve and learn quickly enough but we KNEW this would be the type of project it would be. I didn't think we'd finish top four this season so fith or fifteenth can't say I'm fussed.Well, we have completely different expectations then
After finishing the season on a high, I did expect top 4 this season. And by how low scoring the 4th position will finish, we shouldve been competing for that. Even Mourinho's Tottenham still are.
Blows my mind there's still people trusting on Arteta. We need a manager with experience.
Todays game alone, by the importance to our future, should be a gigantic reason to not give him more time. Such a coward, spineless, joke performance against a very winnable opponent which could've made us be one fucking game away from getting back into the UCL. Now, I can't even think when we'll get there.
I don't even talk about the owners cause there's 0 chance of them selling the club, I'm not gonna waste my time complaining about them.

I remember we beating Chelseas Lampard in january. We were above them in the league. They got rid of the #process. Look where they are now.
I have no idea, I've been barely following football this season. Both my clubs are pretty much destroying my will on the sport.
Taking off Aubameyang, Saka going left back, to make space for WILLIAN
Just some dumb inexcusable type stuff imo

By FootbalIFan Go To PostCavani in his prime was magical.El Matador was unmatchable. He’s still in my top three favorite Napoli players alongside Hamsik and some dead coke fiend.
Such a hard working striker, amazing off the ball movement, scored so many goals, hat tricks against all the big teams in Italy.
Lavezzi Cavani Hamsik were an incredible trio.
Ah, Hamsik.. Not exactly tearing it up in the Swedish league at the moment. Not sure if it's because he has too many bums around him but mostly see him getting quoted about '.. How was it in Napoli' than good player ratings.

Then I think we had different ideas of this teams capabilities. Is it as bad 9th, course not but top four wasn't going to happen without some serious unai 22 games unbeaten type luck.
By Scum Go To PostPotter, Allegri or Rangnick.Zero chance Arsenal will spend what Allegri wants for his salary IMO. Doubt he’d want that sort of project anyway..they’re just not a competitive team these days and he’d want guaranteed CL quality. Rangnick is a big question mark but he would presumably be a good choice if he’s interested in coaching again. Probably has a lot of teams knocking if he opts to do so. Potter is probably the best/most sensible option for them and Spurs and won’t cost much to buy out so it’s gonna be interesting to see how it plays out.
Why not go for Gerrard?
Though he probably wants to see if he can do something in the CL with Rangers while waiting for the Liverpool job

By Plasma Go To PostMorning, is Arteta gone yet?A serious club would've had sacked him already.
Whoever comes in next for Arsenal will have the exact same problems as Arteta does rn. It's not a well-run club at all, the board don't give a shit and the squad is average at best. I'm not sure he deserves all the blame.

Na, there are big problems behind the scenes ofc but Arteta shows a fundamental misundersatanding of the basics of managament. Team selection....often terrible, substiutions.....often terrible. I mean, starting the first leg of a EL semi with ESR as a false 9 would be unforgivable if I was an Arsenal fan while Auba sits on the bench. I can only assume he learnt that from daddy Pep. Woof.
Arsenal went 6 weeks or something during the season without scoring from open play, that's down to Arteta. He's worse than Lampard, worse than Ole.
I just can't get my head huge clubs handing out first managerial jobs to people with no experience

the top 4 last season was liverpool, city, chelsea and united.
you expected arsenal to just get in there after not being in the top 4 for several years? i think that's very unrealistic, regardless of what this season's top 4 looks like.
thing is, i've seen arsenal play some really nice football under arteta--and those performances always give me hope. but there aren't too many of those...
I do think on the face of it expecting top 4 is wrong - Arsenal have the 5th highest wage bill and probably have the 5th best squad - but when you’re behind Leicester, West Ham, Everton, duking it out with Villa and Leeds, something has gone wrong.
I think Arteta has evidently improved Arsenal's defence and in particular their defensive possession, which lest we forget was absolutely comical under Emery at times.
But one thing I cannot fathom is how he could have worked for so long with Pep and learn almost zero lessons in respect of effective attacking structure and movements. He hasn't even just left it to their best players to figure out themselves on the pitch, he puts them in straight-jackets like LVG did with us.
Arsenal are an appallingly boring team to watch and do not have any sort of an effective attack, and that should be the death of Arteta because their attacking players are better than what that team is outputting.

Interesting because Sterling and Sane credit him with helping their attacking positioning a lot. I don’t think it’s as simple as Arsenal’s players not being good enough to learn, so it’s a mystery.
When Bielsa and Potter have their sides playing in the manner they do, it puts pay to any excuses about the quality of sides tbh. If you’re trying to coach them to play that way, there are examples of coaches with lesser sides doing it better. A side like United often live or die by the quality of the players on the pitch because their tactical plan is less evident, but Arsenal are buying into the ideology of Arteta with little evidence he can back it up.

Choosing Leno over Martinez
Signing Willian
Avoiding to use Martinelli more
Terrible team selection
Majority of the players regressing
Terrible tactics
Absolute abysmal game management
Worst league performance in almost 30 years
No european football for the first time in more than 2 decades
I could go on and on
Let's give him another season!

By n8 dogg Go To PostWorse than Ole
Music to my ears
Champions League aside, Ole has had a very good season. Be daft to deny that.
I still don't see United challenging for the title any time soon mind, unless you manage to buy a Kane/Haaland in the summer. Got to imagine Liverpool will be resurgent (they might, ironically have one of the fresher teams with the huge long term injuries. Not playing this insane schedule over the last 18 months might be a big advantage come August/Septemver) and Chelsea will have a fully season under Tommy while I think Ole does run the risk of running a lot of players totally into the ground. We'll see.
I think we're going to be in real trouble at the start of next season.
Other than City who have two first teams, our players have played some of the most minutes in world football this season and most of them are heading off to Euro 2021. They'll not have any pre-season either.

I don't think expecting top 4 was unrealistic. United was nowhere near as good as they are this season last season. They improved A LOT, because of, well, having a competent manager!
Playing 1 or 2 great games per season is not enough.

Yeah, agreed. We happen to have taken advantage of this season by staying relatively injury free (although I wonder how Ole’s fitness schedules work because the likes of Maguire/Shaw/Fred/Bruno seem pretty fucking robust) and by embracing chaos; so many come from behind wins attest to that.
Think City, Chelsea and Liverpool should all go into next season either equal to or ahead of us as favourites.
We're not winning it with Afcon cup coming in January too. Happy with being back with the big boys again in the non-ESL ie top 4.
Shoe-in for a City win next season too I reckon.

Well his role at City was obviously a lot more limited than it is now I guess, I have no doubt Arteta knows his stuff he be seems to struggle to apply anthing to a full squad...you know...management. The Auba situation for example, at times that has threatened to turn into an Ozil-esque situation, he doesn't seem to know how to manage a player like that at all and his solution more often than not has been to bench/not play him. I guess I'm saying I can fully understand him being a good coach as part of a team, but a poor manager/first team coach

You get players like that I guess, I've just always gotten the feeling Ole trusts his XI and no one else. This schedule has been unique and truly insane, and the Euros will only compound that of course. Next season could be more of a bloodbath than this season. If a nasty injury ripped Bruno from the team for a couple of months how would United have handled it? I guess we don't know. And to be fair, we might not find out!
But yeah, Ole is going to win the EL which is a good achievement and fair play, United are once again good to watch, scary in attack etc. It still just feels a little....fragile but only time will tell on that front.
