I get why starting TAA might feel scary considering some of his defensive performances this season, and I agree with that. But at the same time I feel (haven't looked it up) that most of England's goals in the last WC were from set pieces and TAA is obviously an incredible asset when it comes to set pieces.
Insane not to take him with the expanded squad slots though.

Although given England's paucity in midfield taking TAA as a midfielder would probably be a great decision

Not sure how trippier is even in the conversation, he offers nothing.

Given this is England we’re talking about, I’d say that extremely unlikely, and the kind of decision that with hindsight will look like gross negligence and probably cost him the job.

Trent is just a massive defensive liability, people don't realise how much he gets bailed out by the elite positioning of Van Dijk and Fabinho. England don't have defensive players good enough to cover for his shitness. Against elite teams Trent constantly gets exposed.
