By batong Go To PostEngland lads squabbling about a potential QF squad. You h8 to see it.You really bringing up quarterfinals?
By FortuneFaded Go To PostI would rather have Rashford playing as a forward than DCL or Ings
To be very clear, If I was picking the squad I'd be taking Rashford and Foden. But I do think for me Rashford is down the pecking order when you talk about the wide forwards we'll deffo be taking, so I do think there's a conversation to have there.
I think if you lose Rashford you do lose a bit of potential goal threat, but I'd want Ings over him when you're talking about playing as a proper striker all day.
DCL would be good as an alternative threat to Kane. I know that sounds very Andy Carroll-y, but still. I think Ings would likely be used as a replacement for Kane or Rashford if injuries occur etc.
Rashford would be touch and go if he'd get into my England squad. I think he should be behind Sterling, Grealish, Sancho as far as wide men go and I'm Foden-curious too..
Rashford will be key for the Euros on the left. He'll most likely be playing with Shaw so they already have that partnership on that side, alongside Maguire too so it works well. Also agree with what Neville says, England will probably be playing counter attacking football against the better teams so his pace with Sterlings is needed.
The front 3 of Rashford-Kane-Sterling pick themselves at the moment.
If Kane gets injured the direct replacement should be DCL imo. Shouldn't be looking at moving the wide players central and DCL still gives you that focal point at ST.

My first team would be:
Pickford; Trippier, Stones, Maguire, Shaw; Rice, Henderson; Sancho, Grealish, Sterling; Kane

Man, fuck this season.
There's no way you don't take Rashford. He's scored 20 goals this season and is only behind Kane (26)in that England squad in terms of goals (playing out left too). Might be because United lads give him shit etc but he's ahead of the other forward options imo.
Would take one of Grealish or Maddison (not both). Not seen much of Sancho this season but assume he will go too.
My team would be:
Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw, Rice, Henderson, Mount, Sterling, Kane, Rashford

How important is Rashford to England though? He only played one full game at the 2018 WC and that was in the first defeat to Belgium. Every other game he came on as a sub. I think every other wide forward option is simply going to be better at linking up with Kane.

Probably.
Think english lads need to give up on the idea of TAA. Everyone is listing him, but think he will be the first easy cut by Southgate.

I guess he really wouldn't change being able to say he played with Harry Kane for any trophy in the world.
Congrats scummo.

not convinced anyone picking trippier has actually seen him play

Seen him plenty for Atleti this year. Their form dive bombed when he was banned.
Imagine being England, going to the EUROs/WC, and not taking Rashford barring any injury. Dude has been the second most productive English footballer this season and last. Plus he can play in a variety of the forward positions. Rashford, alongside Kane, are automatic picks for any English team so long as they are fit.
people forgetting how clutch rashford can be.

By sohois Go To PostIn terms of goals and assists for the past 2 seasons, he would be joint 3rd with Sterling, behind Kane and Sancho. Thanks for the correction. Still, I think we can both agree that Rashford is ahead of Sancho if not for productivity then in terms of ability to play in several positions.

Rashford is England's best wide forward, the fact it's even a debate on here whether he should start or be in the squad shows the lack of football knowledge some people have.
By LabouredPatriot Go To PostNah I'd rather spend £100m on Declan Rice. That's the spirit

4-3-3 and not 3-5-2, interesting as I thought Zidane would want complete control of the midfield and not allow for an away goal if possible. Anyways, in Zizou we trust.
Win the midfield battle and the winner gets the result.
Surprised inclusion with Keita instead of Thiago but he will provide those bursts forward.

Liverpool have the better bench anyway.
