So I dropped Dunk, was about to put in Evans, but last minute decided on Rudiger who is now injured.

i never really get the point of these silent/black square protests. out of sight out of mind IMO. post content related to the cause youre pushing
I feel that it's more directed at the platform holders than it is the general public. They want platform holders to more strictly police abuse / actually enforce their existing rules. That's the objective.
By domino Go To Posti never really get the point of these silent/black square protests. out of sight out of mind IMO. post content related to the cause youre pushingI agree with you largely, but I guess in this case it's at least multiple days so the effect will be more noticeable at a minimum. Do I think this will cause some shitheel to stop being racist? No, but it does drive home the point that footballers and teams, etc. are doing this for the fan's benefit and if the fans are being awful to them, there is little to no incentive for them to continue to do it. Maybe this makes at least some people think twice in the future before hurling abuse.. who knows. It's also a way to say to Twitter, Insta, etc. that hey, we can take our ball and go home and that is not a good thing for you.
I still think people should have to verify their identity to have an account on social media personally. This would help eliminate trolls from having burners and the like and obviously get rid of a lot of bots, etc. Nothing will change my view on that even if many folks disagree.
Sorry Meier but you wanting a requirement for a verified identity for social media is extraordinarily silly. There are so many oppressed peoples who need that anonymity around the world and you want to take that away from them?
There's a very easy solution that doesn't require you to give up your privacy (and I have NO IDEA why anyone would WANT to do that): force these companies to stop enabling racist behaviour. It would not be hard to stop in this day and age. Hardware bans, IP bans, AI or even fucking simple and enforced filters. There is no reason at all the latter shouldn't already be implemented at least.

Exactly. They could just properly enforce their rules but they know that costs money and/or it would mean losing lots of profitable users and interactions.

One account per person, if you're horrible, no more Twitter for you ever again. I think that is honestly the only way to truly "fix" things. Everything else is just papering over cracks.

You're correct though that at a minimum they need to be doing those last few things. The fact that we have to report posts that blatantly break the rules is insane. It should be very easy for them to implement something that identifies the n-word or something and just automatically bans the poster and doesn't allow the message to go through on top of that.
The benefits of anonymity on the internet exceed the negatives by a colossal degree (and I think that will just widen as we go on). The solution, as Hixx said, is known and down to the platform holders. It would be easy for them to take huge strides against it, but they simply do not want to spend the resources to do it.
Governments should put pressure on them to change TOS and invest in moderation and software automation around it, but that's all they should do. The ID stuff is just a nightmare idea, it really is.

Additionally, In China, Social Media is connected to your ID and your credit and that didn't stop people abusing E-sport players and asking them to kill themselves whenever they lose against Koreans teams and such
Always funny when people say have a thicker skin or ignore it when in reality we have been ignoring this shit because we learn at a very early age to put up with it. Glad this shit is finally getting traction and people are listening.
I get what the slavery supporter is trying to get at but these companies already know who you are and know that you are breaking their ToS. They just know that kind of toxic behavior drives engagement which is more money for them.

Imagine having a Muslim name on Facebook. Every comment I do on Everton football club page, I get a lot of racist replies
I used to report them but nothing came of it then I gave up
I don’t comment on the clubs pages anymore these days

Dunno about best goal, but it's the best brace in the PL ever
Man, I couldn't even be mad about losing to goals like this.

Yeah that first goal was incredible, stabs it up with his right, straight into the top corner with his left. Understandable why it was forgotten ofc considering the second.
What a freak little half season that was, everything he touched went in regardless of where he was or how difficult the chance was. It was fucking amazing.

By n8 dogg Go To PostPlease bring Pardew back
He still gets a very bad rap from our fans about how his tenure ended (rightfully so), but man, those couple of seasons where we finished 5th and then made it to the last 8 of the Europa were the best times at the club since the early 2000s.
I dunno how much Pardew is to blame for that, his record before and after suggests perhaps not much. We did have some genuinely great players at that time who just...clicked. But regardless, I'll always remember him fondly for the good times (and the bad times, I mean he fucking headbutted David Meyler and called Pellegrini "a fucking old cunt")
ok fuck it...bring him back
Afternon, lads. Have we lost yet?

and who can forget....
In March 2009, Pardew stated on Match of the Day 2 that Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien "absolutely rapes" Manchester City player Ched Evans during a midfield tussle for the ball, in the sense that he bested him physically. The BBC explained why there was no on-air apology, saying: "What Alan Pardew said was misheard, it was thought he used the word 'rakes.'".
