By n8 dogg Go To PostDoes xG philosophy count pens? Skewed if soI don't think its skewed if it counted. Penalty is a shot on target after all and a one which has a high chance of going in.
but if you want to take it away, then yeah, Man United and Roma seems to have similar chance creation

Well yes, but in a hypothetical scenario in which a side had zero shots from open play but got three penalties and therefore an xG of 2.2 or whatever, that stat would be misleading.
By LabouredPatriot Go To PostNo most advanced models don't add penalties into xG in any way or form.Looking at FotMob right now and they have it at 1.29 - 1.73. They break it down as follows:
1.29 - 1.73
1.06 - 0.94 (xG open play)
0.23 - 0 (xG set play)
0 - 0.79 (xG penalty)
They actually also have an xGOT that has it at 1.27 to 1.94. They describe xG as a pre-shot model and xGOT as a post-shot model. The xGOT for PSG-City yesterday was 1.04-1.07, btw.

I thought xG implied the the more likelyhood of a shot going in, whether its an open play or otherwise, doesn't matter.
Infact I would more likely consider 3 penalties to have an xG of 2.2 than an open chance
Am I misunderstanding something here, your point or the xG in general?

I guess some players are more suited to certain styles and leagues than others

I’m saying in a scenario where a team wins 3 penalties in situations like Pogba’s tonight but create zero chances outside of that, an xG of 2.2 might give a false representation of how the game went.
By Meier Go To PostI don't think it was soft. His hand/arm was raised quite a ways from his body and obviously impeded the attack. You could maybe say it was unlucky since it was a scramble before it, but it was a very clear handball. It's soft because it was accidental as Pogba was slipping on the wet pitch.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostLol xG doesn't change goals being against the run of play but i missed you posting the xG of the Man United Leeds game for some reason FortuneFaded............
