I don't think that the game would need whales to cover the cost to improve access, the distribution would just need to be mass targeted with some other forms of monetization.
Free viewing is probably unsustainable in general but a couple years ago a US viewer could spend like a few dollars a match for the ucl games with br live or whatever, or subscribe to a low package. That model is pretty sustainable globally, since millions of people would compound, which is probably another reason why they want to consolidate for a super league. It's harder to make that kind of strategy work for every single league. The reliance on big TV deals is going to fuck everyone over if they don't adapt though, because young people aren't going to pay for that.
By extension if they had some kind of like interactivity during games, like what people spend money on for twitch, they'd probably be able to subsidize the entry cost. It would make for good banter too, but it's hard to imagine that working. I don't even like that stuff already but it's a pretty obvious mechanic to consider for the future.
At the same time, Kalle is right that money needs to go down a little bit I think. Player costs can be absurd sometimes. Teams are blowing money like it's nothing and affording themselves minimum protection, especially the established rich ones that were willing to do this stupid shit. That needs to be targeted too.

For the life of me I've never understood why epl doesn't allow top teams to negotiate their own rights outside of the domestic league with a % being kicked back the league and lower leagues. I don't know about infra costs but surely you only need distribution and if your utd you have 500 million fans. Maybe two 5ths of those fans will pay and can afford to pay a few quid a game.

Man was coasting towards the end. Was for the best.

Take a coasting Wenger over and Arteta trying his hardest.

Good god did this get a good laugh out of me
instead of having the pl/cl/etc etc require $70 a month fees in a cable tv, have them be a $5/$10 a month streaming service and see how many more people subscribe

I remember the first game after Mou was sacked from Chelsea for the 2nd time. The players put on an incredible performance.
IIRC a similar thing happened at United and they went on a long unbeaten run.

There needs to be a streaming service or deal that rewards watching garbage games and teams if they want to increase viewership.
The more I think about the business of it anyways though the more annoying it gets. There needs to be better systems for people to watch and interact and stuff, but the big clubs aren't hurting for revenue they're just being greedy. They're clearly hurting right now because they overextended their expenses without guaranteed revenue, but in general they're already getting the most fans in seats in their bigger stadiums, selling the most kits, getting the most international views, etc etc. Fuck them lol, just spend money better.

I feel like they call less fouls in the women's game because the fouls dont look as rough and they dont knock each other down as much, but it actually makes it a very physical game.
Petition to start a breakaway league where if a team scores they aren't allowed to play a garbage song afterwards.

Teams should only be allowed to play the can-can after scoring so it can be like bayern vs schlake to open this season, peak entertainment
Looks like Chelsea Women will probably win the title again. City had a huge chance at the end but just wide. Sam Kerr is a monster on the counter.. think it must have been 70/30 possession for City but every time she'd run with the ball she'd absolutely dust the City defense.
Both teams have 2 games they'll be expected to win and Chelsea have a superior GD in the case of them drawing in one of them.
