By JesalR Go To PostThe years of Merc dominance really made this sport seem so bleh. There's probably a balance between this season and the last few that they need to strike, but it was a hell of a lot of funI have been watching long enough to go through the Williams/Ferrari and RBR dominance before and I learned that if there is an exiting season like this or 2016, you jump on the ride and enjoy it, because they are scarce and might not come back for a while.
So next season one team comes flying out of the box, nailing the regs and we are back to enjoying scrap fights for p6/7 ;)

FOM needs to find a way to get enough bandwidth from the cars to use these cams more. If teams complain (data on steer visible tell them to go, because they will engineer around it quickly if mandated.)

surely, it must be only a matter of time before we can choose our own angles.
would've loved to see everything through max's helmet cam in the final round.

I thought Lewis was passed entry when SC call came, but they had enough time to pit. Any interviews with Merc guys why Lewis stayed out, because you knew Max would pit for reds if you did not. And if Lewis pits Max stays out and I think that Lewis would have passed Max on that last lap?

Now lets wait for the Mercedes reply, court or not
And here we go
They have to if they want to appeal, we will here soonish if they decide to do that or not

I imagine Lewis probably just wants to move on ASAP.
Even if he was to be given the WDC, it wouldn't be the way he wanted.

Probably a corporate PR decision in the end, more so than a legal one, we will see in the next 3 days.

By JesalR Go To PostYeah, for sure, a messy legal battle is an extremely shit end to the season.
Absolutely. Neither Lewis or Max did anything wrong this time around. There'll be a layer of injustice regardless of the final decision.
Regardless of the end (and that I was OK with either of them winning) that was prime TV and Sporting.
I'm still with a wide smile on that fucking race and season.

Incredible season albeit some odd moments and decisions but I'm mostly just happy we have a new champion. #FuckBundesLolga

After the dust as settled have to say I'm pretty fine with how it all ended. Definitely some interpretation of the rules/regs but since they are broken by every team every season anyway that's pretty much a given.
Tough luck for Lewis but not the only driver ever fucked by a late safety car.

Looking forward to seeing how the new reg changes how well the cars can follow each other.

Reading up on all the decisions that were made and the why, even though it was messy, I can live with them for two main reasons:
- Lewis and Mercedes had a choice to what tire they wanted to use
- And the non lapped cars had no influence on the outcome. As I cannot see Carlos in p3 not tying to stay out of the way of that champion fight.
Extremely unlucky for Lewis in the last race of the season, a race that you completely dominate and that makes it extra sore for him and the team.
Glad that Pirelli incompetence in Baku wasn't the deciding factor in the end.
Overall most amazing season I have seen in 30+ years, hope next one delivers again.
The question I'd ask people who think Lewis was robbed would be. If all lapped cars got to pass the safety car, would you still be upset?
If so, you don't understand F1 racing.
If no, it has zero impact on the finish grow up

I’m upset about it from the perspective of being a fan, but whatever to the nonsense.
That said, do the cars not have to wait for the track to be completely cleared before being able to unlap themselves. If they do, then there wouldn’t have been time for another full lap.

Best view on the situation I would say. Don't blame any team or driver for the situation but the way the FIA has handled F1 this year as a whole.
By JesalR Go To PostI’m upset about it from the perspective of being a fan, but whatever to the nonsense.there is a local track chief who is at the situation and when he gives track clear the race director can give sign for lapped cars, or this race few cars, to unlap. Thats how they did it here, so that wasn't a problem, other than the weird messages on screen (were there was no explanation of why it so quickly changed)

The real unfair thing is the SC and the cars being on different tires, but that wasn't on the race director. The only way that would not have happened would be red flag, but there was no reason for that.
The marshalls did one hell of a job to get the track clear so quickly and Masi tried all to get the race restarted, everything 100% by the rules, no, but I do not believe that this influenced the outcome in the end (as in all cars unlapped, same order).
