By Lunatic Go To PostMercs just not made to follow. Red Bulls are faster and Verstappen at this point is a better driver.
Not sure those last 2 statements are 100% true but the Merc does kinda suck following.
Hopefully next year improves that's all round.
By KP Go To PostNot sure those last 2 statements are 100% true but the Merc does kinda suck following.I edited to say this year. Hamilton made too much mistakes this year that could have given him a better lead. I expect next year with new regs Mercs will be back on top.

Lewis took more out of the car than Max did this weekend imo.
Max had to compromise his pace doing the undercut, in the end it worked out.
Best car keeps swinging from Merc to Redbull on all tracks, which is great to see. This weekend Redbull looked way better like the Mercs did at Istanbul.

Merc looks as good if not better till they had to change floors due to the bumps. You'd think Mexico would swing back to RB though

Max got poll. I'd say max was faster over all.

You'd think Mexico would swing back to RB thoughMerc had few years were they were really bad on their rear tires, more so than the usual turbo hihh altiyude non sense. If that is the same this year, it should be RBR teritory.
Than it is up to Lewis to keep ahead of Sergio and keep points loss limited. And hope Ferrari does not do something like Monaco, high downforce.
RBR had maybe 1/2 tenths ultimate pace, but further in to the stint, the Merc looked slightly faster (not just tire life due to later stops)

By Vini.lad Go To PostRedbull was faster. Checo almost out qualified Hamilton.Very much. That second stint on mediums fkd his race tho.
By KP Go To PostRace pace Mercs were faster on hard compound. Undercuts and track position just worked out for RB?

like most time this season, they look slightly better at their (front) tires and gain pace relative to RBR, the longer the stint and harder the compound (prob bit easier on the rear controlling temp for them) But track position is still key and strats, like today, can make a difference. All great for us as you do not know who will end on top in most races!!

Yeah if Lewis had a bit more laps he would have caught Max for sure on the hards. Bulls did look faster on the mediums though. But you gotta love a race that gets decided on strategy. Especially if Red Bull has finally figured out something that works better than what Merc are doing.

It's why I miss refueling. So many potential strats there.
But yeah I was suprised how easy max could stay close to Lewis on the medium. Wonder if Merc would have used the same strat as RB if Max held onto P1 at the start.
By Lunatic Go To PostPresale for Miami F1 starts on the 28th. Grabbing 4 tickets for my crew.I’m not sure I can make it. You should probably give that fourth to someone else.
By Lunatic Go To PostPresale for Miami F1 starts on the 28th. Grabbing 4 tickets for my crew.I copped my tickets yesterday sitting in Mclaren fan section, let me know if you want a presale code and link for that cause I doubt there will be any presale left by tomorrow if any are even available today.
I also have Aston Martins fan section and code if you want, its in the same area as Mclaren.
I've seen a screenshot of an email going around that presale is already sold out. Shit, hospitality was sold out monday.
EDIT: I'll just post links lol

DOUBLE EDIT:
Presale is sold out. Got the email 45 minutes before my window was supposed to open up. But try the fan section links still.
There are 3 other fan sections but I dont have the links or codes for them. Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull
By Lunatic Go To PostGood looking out Slizz 👊🏽No prob, it was hectic yesterday in the war room with my buddies deciding where to sit and what not lol.
Turns out McLaren has probably one of the better deals pricewise for tickets and location to the track and I got that code on Monday.
On to Mexico, high altitude, so engines need more cooling, turbo works differently and even though you bring max downforce, it is probably not enough.
If rear end wear is deciding factor, I would put money on RBR this weekend. However, what does the new air-plenum on merc PU do at height (better as in past?), how much does their straight line speed going to bring them (rear suspension collapsing) en can Ferrari be a darkhorse like they were in Baku/Monaco in their high downforce configuration.
2019 Lewis slightly lost rear and he and Max collided in T1, what are the odds for this year?

FP1:
As always on a Friday, don't read to much in to the times. Interesting bit was the different tire compound usage by the different teams, have to wait for FP2/3 to see if that equalise during the event. Sergio and Charles had moment last corner and needed some repair on the rear-end of the car.
Lance and Yuki take engine penalties for this race.

FP2
Feels a bit like Spielberg, dominance on Max his side. Both in short and long runs, bit harder to read as Merc unusual started theirs on the reds, the gaps were there. Even had the feeling the Honda for Max en Sergio was well turned down, looking at speed traps and specially after Max last lap without tow all off a sudden matching the others.
AT and Ferrari ahead of McLaren on the Friday, not helped by gearbox issues for DannyRic (George also gearbox).

Looks like RBR front row, Max only had an issue at the rear before final run, which was slower than time set early in session. Merc just does not seam to have the downforce in S2 en slide (over heat rear tires) more in Stadium section en don't gain enough on straights to balance it out.
Best of the rest seems tricky to call, because they all seam to have some sort of problem, lot of sliding, tires locking and spin/drifts. So team that find a bit of balance between now and Q1 might start on the 3 row.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostStroll was starting near the back anyway because of a new power unitdid not want to give Seb a tow ;)
By FortuneFaded Go To PostYuki doing well.is it smart though, if you end up in q3?
By markao Go To Poststill find it weird that they let Yuki start on redsGiven he is taking an engine penalty, they may want to give him the best chance of overtaking in the early laps
