A Formula 1 fan from Liverpool was arrested at gunpoint in the Netherlands after being mistaken for a mafia boss.
Police believed the 54-year-old, known as Mark L, was Sicilian crime lord Matteo Messina Denaro and he was blindfolded and led away by officers in The Hague on Wednesday.
Prosecutors said the man, who was in the country to watch the Dutch Grand Prix on 5 September, was later freed.
Denaro, 59, is wanted over bombings in 1993 which killed 10 and injured 93.
Mark L had been eating at a restaurant with his son when police burst in, carrying a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Italian authorities.
His lawyer Leon van Kleef said it was "like a bad movie, a nightmare that my client has found himself in".
He continued: "Imagine one moment you are having a bite to eat and the next you are sat in a maximum-security Dutch prison."
He said his client "had anger and disbelief and laughter because it is ludicrous".
"He is a normal Formula One fan. I was always convinced he was not it. It would have been a genius of an Italian to have such a strong Liverpool accent."

Charles first one to take new and improved Ferrari engine, wonder if others follow. If weather forecast stays like this, rain chance (specially Saturday) all weekend and low grip surface and Max already with the Monza 3p pen.
In the dry it has been the ultimate Mercedes hunting ground (7 out of 7 wins), but feel RBR should be closer this year, if Merc rear tire limitation becomes dominating limitation in their race pace, but still almost 75% flat-out. See no reason why McLaren should not be best of the rest, but if weather plays roll all bets out of the window.

Other than weird crash by Lando pit in and both Charles and Max using to sets of reds, not much happened. Guess Charles and Max do not need the reds if they both start at the back in Q, or they gamble on a complete wet Saturday.

Other than that, biggest team he could go is Alpine I guess. Unfortunately, Redbull has fucked up his career progression.
RBR confirmed, new PU Max, so starts last Sunday. They do need to find some topspeed (could have been new engine easing in), if they want to make some progress on Sunday. Valteri, as is mostly the case here, going well, specially long run. Perez well of the pace so far and cannot see him doing much better in a wet qualifying tomorrow, if there is any Q session at all (gonna be a long wait again if weather forecast is correct).
So could be another podium for Lando, or maybe Gasly, if he manages to not destroy his frontwing in the race. But if weather is as bad as expected tomorrow, could well be a really mixed grid.
