By FortuneFaded Go To PostIt’s going to be a Mercedes 1-2, isn’t it?Maybe not
By Anya Taylor-Sad Go To PostRed Bull look pretty clever nowclosing a gap and passing (enough tire left) are two different things, but lets hope for nice fight in the end

what a lovely race
Lando!!!!!
and Perez does almsot what he needs to do
What Perez needed to do was put it on the second row in quali.

By Anya Taylor-Sad Go To PostBreaking track limits made the difference today :lolonly allowed in the `1st 1/2 ;) , stewards made a mess of it by not being consistent the entire race.
Disappointing race for Alfa Tauri, they did that last year a few times. They need to pick up better results if they have the car for it
If both teams keep the current pace the fight for the driver's championship will be close. But give the guys at race control fresh sets of glasses.
By Lunatic Go To PostTold y'all sir hammy has this on lock
Verstappen did everything right except, crucially, for how he handled the overtake and then how and where he gave the position back. Even considering how well Hamilton drove on his second set of C2 tyres, Mercedes shouldn't really have won that race.

And the longer you are close to another car the more they overheat and you loose that advantage, which you saw the last 2/3 laps, so when opportunity is there you have to go for it.
he should have definitely pulled a "sir Lewy in Spa on Kimi" in the way he gave the position back and loose less time.

That’s what I thought he was going to do

But Hamilton got slapped with a huge time penalty after the race, so I’m glad he didn’t because that had the potential to open a massive can of worms
edit: Also I reckon he would have had a decent chance of overtaking into turn 1 if he’d let Hamilton pass on the inside just before the detection point at turn 14
Ted's gossip about Cyril Abiteboul was that the new CEO wasn't happy about them coming 5th last year, which is a bit boring.
By Bungie Go To PostThat’s what I thought he was going to doAnd I was wondering if I had to explain that one lol

Equal cars and you loose to much time in t11/13 and even though you close in a little before the last corner, you loose out in that corner again. So unless you are overtaking a Ferrari or Renault, based on today, the other will defend the inside and you are running behind him towards t4 again. The moment he choose was ok, he just was so close in t13 and slid wide and lost his opportunity
Max doing something cheeky would have been fun for the internets, instead of the run wide T4 whining (Lewis, what was allowed by Massi)
Do hope on front limited tracks cars are as equal as they were today, RBR will need Perez closer if that's the case, but this year could be awesome.

Sometimes you have some green "tarmac" behind a curb followed by gravel (spa Stavelot, Silverstone Luffield exit, Hockenheim entry stadium section to name a few), were i have no issues of them running wide on to the green stuff.
Just announce the limits before a race weekend, stick to them and police them in Q&R sessions and penalize if broken.
Getting rid of the chicane sounds like a good idea if we get to see more overtakes before turn 11, although I guess there will be some slowing down to do now into that corner. No real opinion on the turn 13 changes, I’ll wait and see if we get more overtaking there with the wider track and heavier braking. Widening a lot of the corners is a good move in general I think, although I’m not sure what’s happening at 6-7. Presumably it’s wider on the left (rather than the right so you can’t just take it flat?)
T11 is high speed corner and one of the best on the calender, they now approach faster nothing wrong with that, but overtaking opportunity? Exit 9-10 was one of the more tricky parts of the track, shame to see that go.
Should have lengthened the main straight, but that was probably no option, so have to wait how the widening and altering of some corners will work out in practice.

If they're on the throttle from turn 7 then yes, you would expect to see some overtakes before 11, even if they don't move one of the DRS zones
T8 is, or was at least full throttle, but you need to get the move done before T11.
You will need some serious big balls if you want to place your car on the outside. (think rbr & merc had minimum speed of 240+ km/h through that "chicane")
Also next year

Damn, my favourite Merc insider on a tech forum deleted his entire post history, guess the Brixworth-nazis got to him. Gonna miss his updates on what the team is doing well before they hit the track, probably the reason someone send him an angry dm.
Strange as he always said some friends worked there, pub talk etc. , but all gone, shame :(
