Only interesting thing of that session was Lando & Charles from the 1st lap trying to put pressure on their new teammates. Take away Max tow on that fastest lap and it would be a great year, if it wasn't that these times are still well of actual pace, but midfield closer would be great.
FP2 quick laps hopefully give a better idea, but with testing here 2 weeks ago, I somehow doubt that and we will have to wait for the Q-sessions.

Would be nice if that timing sheet would be true, but long run pace still had RBR (Max) and Merc (Lewis) well ahead of the midfield teams, whom were also as close as in single lap run (McL/Fer/AT)., so that looks good. Weird that Merc still struggles to get good pace on the softer compounds, like they were in testing.
Session not long enough for decent double (both tire) long-runs, so teams will probably complain or maybe even start doing some more long runs in FP3 in the future.

Looks like that RBR engineer on Austosport forums was honest, gap between top and midfield bigger than last year. Still, hot track temps, will have played in to the hands of best balanced car, so do not expect those gaps to be that big when it is cooler. Odd one out were the McL's, even with error Lando in T1 and as KP said does not look good for Aston and Alpine (both have not shown any pace, neither in testing nor in the first 3 sessions).
