He doesn't have the fundamentals to play well consistently when things aren't working around him the way James does, or the defensive ability to at least rarely venture into liability territory like AWB. He can end up basically being a poor defender who keeps on trying daft passes and giving the ball away. Stick a static attack and midfielders who are reticent to get into the box on top, and his crossing ability becomes pointless as well (and his crossing has been pretty shite a lot of the time this year by it's own merits)
It's why i think it might be more trouble than it's worth to get him implemented into the England team even when he's the best performing RB.

TAA has been the best right back in the world for several seasons and hasn't been able to maintain that every year. Trust Hitch to turn that into some disaster

This is right I think.
Not to make this about Tottenham, but Kane is the only player who wouldn’t get left out if he was in poor form. Probably ‘Hendo’ as well but he has age working against him.
edit: I suppose you could ask why Dier is in there, so maybe you would have to add him to those two but it seems very wrong to do so
