We need a Matic replacement - someone who switch defence to attack quickly, currently, Fred and McScott do the opposite. They are clutch in big games but on average across a season, we need so much better.

Sancho will be world class, but we don't have the cash to pay what Dortmund want. After that I'm not sure there's many others worth spending the £50M plus it would take to sign them. Would rather give Amad a shot than spend £60m on a decent player.

That leaves CDM as the most pressing area to sign. Carl Anka has a good piece on that in the Athletic. Rice and Ndidi are the two outstanding DM's in the league who are strong in every area you need. Then he talks about other DM's who are strong in certain areas like passing but may be limited on the defensive side. Think we need an all rounder.
