By LabouredPatriot Go To PostWith Sancho, Rashford and Grealish fit, Sterling should not be getting in the first 11.You’ll get Kane Rashford and Sterling and you will like it
By Cleff Go To PostShould be starting Eze. Don't have many attacking threats in that team otherwise.Jones on the bench in both games from the start 😅
By Meier Go To PostJust saw a replay of that Portugal non-goal goal. What a ball by Nuno Mendes, whew.Boy will be amazing, just wait and see.
Ahaha, Gonçalo Ramos came on, didn't even touch the ball and was brought down in the box.
Penalty for Trincão and it's 2-0.

England are so bad. Our U21 squad is very good but this game has been too easy and the goal difference could have been much bigger.
By Willkiller Go To PostIs there any value in international U21s at all?Thats where the loser mentality comes into play and is carried all the way to men's team.
By Wahabipapangus Go To PostI like u21. Often a good look on some future stars, and pretty decent football on top.
Not sure they're always a good look at future stars mind. The future stars tend to be already with the senior team (obviously with some exceptions).
I mean, the starting XI from the England U20 2017 WC winners:
GK 1 Freddie Woodman
RB 2 Jonjoe Kenny
CB 5 Fikayo Tomori
CB 6 Jake Clarke-Salter
LB 14 Kyle Walker-Peters
DM 4 Lewis Cook (c)
DM 7 Josh Onomah
RM 18 Kieran Dowell
AM 10 Dominic Solanke
LM 11 Ademola Lookman
CF 16 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Obviously not all will make it, and obviously a lot of them will already be with the main squad if they are very talented. Doesnt make the point less valid. But there's also a lot of really young players there every now and then, that could play u18 instead, that just havent gotten a breakthrough at a big club yet, despite having it in them.
I got to see plenty of players for Denmark u21 who turned out to be great players for our main national team (and really some of the best in the country) a few years later. I enjoy that. I also get to see some players, who play in leagues I simply dont watch (netherlands and belgium mainly), who might already be first team players for their clubs, but are making their way for a big move now. It's not much different to normal international football for me.
A few days ago I also saw a 17 year old Danish kid start against France u21 (which also featured a lot of high valued footballers, already having made their first team debuts for the national team like Camavinga) and do well, which was cool to see, and only further validated my high thoughts for his future (and hope for Copenhagen to buy him). I bet the people who watched Messi or Ronaldo at u21 also felt that was a nice experience back in the day, before they had made any impact (if even really played outside of training matches) for their clubs.
It's ok if you dont care m8, but there is certainly value in there. Both entertainment wise, but also for watching out for talents.

All completely valid. To be fair, I'm cynical about it because I'm cynical about international football. Outside of the brilliant occasions that the two major international competitions (that we compete in) bring, I just don't really give a fuck.
I fucking adore international football for only 2 months out of every 4 years. That kind of ratio isn't condusive to an interest in the B and C tiers of the international structure, but that's just me
I'm the same Will
World Cup and Euros are gr8
Qualifiers, friendlies, other tournaments, youth tournaments etc
Meh.

It's the only international competition we've won (other than a confederations cup lol) or have a shot at in the future, so yeah, we kinda do.

Neymar did not impress me then but Jimenez did.
Huh
Kinda assumed we'd have a very quiet summer with us most likely ending up having had a shocking season. I know he's very highly rated, but his injury issues are very concerning. Not sure I've even seen him play, despite having seen five or so Leipzig matches in the past 18 months.
This season has kinda hammered home how important it is just to have someone constantly available. Give me a Lindelof over a Matip any day.

He played 11 games last season, and has played 15 this season. Burnout shouldn't be an issue at least ¬¬
