Big Bro Jupe taking all the hits for us ;_;
By Smokey Go To PostIf Jupiter didn’t exist we’d get rektYou really have to look at the entire system itself had to work in a way that allowed us to exist. Jupiter where it is now protects us out of pure luck. The whole thing is insane. Literally everything in the universe outside of the heliosphere is trying to kill us. Even our star, the sun is rare as fuck. Nobody really gets how life just suddenly went from simple single cell organisms to complex multi cellular life. We are still not sure what caused the Cambrian explosion .5 billions years ago that eventually lead to us.
That’s the thing with the universe, it’s so fucking big and it has existed for so long, and will exist for so munch longer that these log shots are bound to happen. You can extend that to the multiverse too (if its right). One is bound to pop up with the right physics needed to support life.
Discovered this youtube channel, Cool Worlds.

By Lunatic Go To PostWill end in tears Fender. NASA is dead!24 hours till tears
The launch is apparently the easy part. The worrying bit is the actual six month deployment process where there is apparently 300+ points of failure.

Honestly waited 10 years for this to happen. Basically evangelion levels.
We are the cosmos made conscious and life is the means by which the universe understands itself.

"we are a way for the cosmos to know itself"
But I'll allow it.
Fingers crossed for a successful launch.
By Daz Go To PostIt's modification of Sahan's OG quoteFor sure but one of his heroes is Carl Sagan so it makes sense.

By diehard Go To PostHow much sleep you imagine those engineers are getting over the next month?Equivalent to the temperature the lens will be at.
It's not just failure of a life long project, but there'll be congressional hearings if this thing doesn't work.
By Fenderputty Go To PostWhat will be the first image they make public?The summer is when the first images should be coming. It’s a long way until then, though.
