I know Kabak is/was highly rated for his promising performances a season or two ago. So there's probably a decent player there. But he looks stunningly slow.
He falls down from a tackle though but it goes both ways and it didn't decide the game for me tbh, could have played another 30 mins without scoring.
By Lego Go To PostI don’t get it, mate. Surely you can’t bring someone down like that, he slides in, doesn’t get the ball then there’s contact, to me it doesn’t matter that it’s head. He’s impeded him. He shouldn’t be on the deck there and he stops Calvert-Lewin from having a tap in.
He slides in to block the shot and doesn’t make contact with Calvert Lewin. After the shot, DCL carries on the run and makes contact with the prone body of TAA. He’s impeded him completely by accident without any awareness of DCL’s actions. If anything, I’d say DCL fouled him.
You can't just lie on the floor in the path of a player actually playing the ball and impede a goal scoring opportunity. Whether you see if someone is behind or not when you do it is irrelevant.

Starting to think he was only rated because he was starting games in a position where you don't normally see players of his age. No idea what he's supposed to excel at.
Obviously nobody is going to hugely impress being shoved into this shitshow at the start of February, but still. Can't help that on his debut the keeper decided to clatter into him without giving a shout and cost us a goal.
FINALLY, the hoodoo is over.
Didn't watch the game, but I am happy!
Will watch the full match replay later tonight!

But he didn’t lie on the floor to do that. He tried playing the ball on the initial shot and then DCL’s actions follow through on him, rather than the other way round.

He only has eyes on getting to the ball, and in his natural running motion gets a head to the knee, causing him to tumble.
Wow that Schalke back four before they loaned out Kabak:
Kolasinac - Kabak - Nastasic - BECKER
Manager: Christian Gross (fucking hell)
Siri, show me the foundations of relegation

Foul.
PGMOL said it should have been a red. Not really sure if they can award those retroactively when VAR is involved or not though but presumably TAA will miss their next game.

Yeah I'm not going to get too worked up on that penalty. Calls have gone against Liverpool all season and they weren't scoring anyways.
By n8 dogg Go To PostindeedIt’s unfortunate, but Trent’s actions impeded Calvert-Lewin, for me. You see penalties given for tangles of legs, players kicking the ball round the keeper and going down at the first touch, all the time.
You see Salah getting a penalty against City the other week because a lad touched his shoulder. Calvert-Lewin genuinely couldn’t stay on his feet there, and he tried to.

Oh dear m8, how can football fans in 2021 STILL be talking about stuff being accidental? It simply doesn't matter.
Players get taken out after shooting all the time, and they're never given as penalties unless there is a foul in the initial block or tackle. Lewin misses his shot, then just charges over TAA with no attempt to avoid him or do anything but fall over him.
If the ball had gone out for a corner and the same thing happened, no one anywhere would be considering that a penalty

By JesalR Go To PostWhat? Not when the attacker has a chance for a damn tap in. Come on manbut a foul's a foul, right? it shouldn't matter where the ball is. So why aren't there dozens of penalties every week when strikers get taken out after shooting?
By Lego Go To PostHe didn’t take him out blocking the shot, he took him out after when Calvert-Lewin had an empty net to roll the ball into. Yes, the context matters.
Lewin ran into Trent and fell over him; it would be different if Trent had actually dragged him down or something. But it was just momentum

Not that it’s important anyway, just interesting to see the differing views on this. I think there’s a reason the referee took one look at it and stuck to his decision.
So are Liverpool fans ever again going to tell me injuries, incompetent refs and luck doesn't matter?
By Doicare Go To PostSo are Liverpool fans ever again going to tell me injuries, incompetent refs and luck doesn't matter? They matter more when they're compounded by shit performances and predictable tactics.
Lol so many chances for both teams in this Real Madrid - Valladolid game

No bench.
Zidane needs to clap the fuck out of this team during half time. If we lose or tie when Atletico dropped points it would be suicide.

Sheffield United just lost Basham to injury. That’s all three of last year’s starting CBs out now. Poor lads.
the players have a union right? how have they not told fifa/uefa/etc to fuck off and let everyone rest this summer
