What is the tone of Succession? I assumed it was straight melodrama til it was called a comedy in a BBC headline the other day.

Finishing up Midnight Mass, overall I've really enjoyed it. Carried by some great performances, I liked the core mystery and the atmosphere. That said, someone needs to give Flanagan a fucking slap in the writing room. His tendency to write these long monologues is infuriating, they rarely add much of anything to the story, in fact they usually kill the pace of an episode totally.
The man can't write dialogue at all, it would be so refreshing to watch a show where the people talked like real people and not amateur actors prepping their material for their next acting lesson.
