By guanciale Go To PostAll 2000- series should be disqualified immediatelythat would make it really hard to do a list with the best shows of the 21th century.

those were the two that i have an issue with. GOT i would chuck somewhere in the top 80.

never really watched mr robot or big bang theory (the latter seems like shit though), but Dexter... Now that is a show I actually found entertaining at first. But the way that dropped off a hill, despite never even being that good, is quite something. Probably the show I watched that dropped the hardest in quality, and yeah as i said, not like it was amazing in the first place.
Also yeah, Breaking Bad way way way too high for me, same with GoT, but I just dont like that kind of shit. Arrested development, Sunny and Curb should all be above them.
Edit: and scrubs is not even there, wtf mens
I tried to do my own list on discord some time ago, but includes older stuff:
1. riget
2. sopranos
3. twin peaks
4. klovn
5. mad men
6. six feet under
7. curb
8. scrubs
9. always sunny
10. south park

Most of the list seems fine, they probably took in account popularity aswell otherwise they should only include half of GoT.
Big Bang being on there sure is something.

The cancellation decision was, per sources, not based on viewership figures as Hulu, like other streamers, does not release traditional ratings data. That means FX had little to no data on which to evaluate the series, including how it performed in its entirety over a certain timeframe, etcThis show is cursed.

By guanciale Go To PostThe 21st century started January 1st 2001.oh that's what you meant. i agree then.
By Lupercal Go To PostI would include Sopranos though, still went on for 6 seasons well into 21st century…I was really surprised I couldn't find Sopranos anywhere on that list until I figured that out.
Imo Sopranos is a '00s show. Kinda weird to exclude it from a 21st century list when most of the Sopranos aired in the 21st century.
But if they are going to include Sopranos, they have to include a bunch of other ones so I can understand why.
I still don't like it.

Fleabag, Game of Thrones and Leftovers being top 10 is laughable. Also, despite polling "experts" from 43 countries it's still 92 English entries and like a few token Scandinavian shows. Is there really so little from the rest of the world?

This show is cursed.
This concept doesn't really work anymore. 26-year-old Brian K Vaughan thought he was a genius but this shit was just an exercise in treading lightly. The concept of gender basically shifted a huge amount in mainstream consciousness in the last two decades alone and the show just couldn't keep up without throwing out the premise entirely
Even the fucking title is problematic at that point. Address and make all the caveats you want, the whole hook is weakened no matter what angle you take. Sure, reproduction is impossible. But if that's the only driving plot element it might as well be Children of Men
Have to agree, its time has passed. Also, having watched the first ep. it felt like it was already beginning to run out of interesting things to do or say with the concept.
I thought the 4 eps I’ve seen so far were great but now that it’s cancelled idc about the rest unless it gets picked up
In other news the timeline has been cooking Family Matters for days lol

trans women and men are actually addressed about 2-3 eps in.
I think conceptually, it deserved a chance to at least try.
Lord knows there are shows far less worthy still ongoing.

That should adapt Saga next, gut the plot of all it's interesting points, and cancel it after a season.
I thought the plot point of Y: The Last Man was about him being the last dude on earth that can still jizz and help produce babies what does that have to do with trans rights? Maybe I'm missing some subtler points here because full disclosure I haven't watched the show lol
I haven't finished it either, but even he jokes about jizzing a cup if that's what it would take. But something is killing all the men, so any baby boys are likely to die - whihh defeats the purpose.
As for the trans angle, think it focuses more on trans men showing them trying to survive in a world that has fallen apart, testosterone supply hoarding etc, some societal aspects as well when women see them especially with all other men dead, their experiences being stripped down to find they are trans and not "real men". Or I could be wrong.
Where I saw last, he was on his way with the other protag to find a scientist who could figure out why he was immune to the whole thing.

By Daz Go To Posttheir experiences being stripped down to find they are trans and not "real men". Or I could be wrong.I don't think you need to have all of the creatures on earth with y chromosomes die to explore this angle. It's basically the continous experience of a trans person. Again, it'd just be walking on eggshells that were barely BARELY addressed in the original comic except as glorified shock material, exotic flavor, or comic relief. Har har this woman has a beard
In the early comics a character reaches into Yorick's pants and is like "Oh wow you are a real man! That's all I needed." I mean, are you kidding me?
(I'm not giving BKV enough credit but I feel for him. Shit changes)

Never read the comics though, so, can't speak to that.

There are a few other points like why everything happened, why his monkey is also immune, since animals were also affected as far as I remember etc.
It's just more of a minefield than it used to be when the story was initially popular. That's all.
If that's worth it to all involved and they think they can still make a faithful adaptation (if the show is picked up somewhere else), then godspeed

The series is so rich and fantastical that a live action version could never work. I feel the same way about the upcoming Netflix adaptation of Sandman.
