it is right up my alley - I was more torn about the MC's choices.
Seen the first 4 episodes of The Acolyte and this show is really stupid. Maybe it will be all explained in later episodes, but it's so weird that Mae is blaming the Jedis for the fire she started and that everybody is ok with thinking that it was the fire that killed all the witches? Wth did Torbin have such guilt over that he didn't talk to anybody for 10 years and took that poison?

George R.R. Martin is doing very little to pour cold water on the speculation that he isn't overly thrilled with the adaptation of his book, Fire & Blood, as he has revealed he will not be attending the writers' room for Season 3 of House of the Dragon in London in the next few weeks. Recently, a quote from Martin's blog has reignited speculation about his sentiments towards the series. In a recent post, Martin mentioned, "The writers’ room for HOUSE OF THE DRAGON season 3 is also meeting in London, but I have no plans to attend."
As someone who hasn't even read the books, I lost any hope for a good show about halfway through season 1. Sounds like season 2 has done the same for book readers.
It's actually better for the changes they made, according to all the book readers I listen to.
It flashes out events, characters and motivations in a way a dry history book couldn't.

All the book readers ive seen online have said the opposite. . After the 1st season, im inclined to believe em. Particularly in regards to Alicent or just the removal of key characters like whoever nettles is.
lol, "book readers".
There isn't even close to a full book for this stuff. It's about 250 pages worth of content so yes, for a multi season show there was going to be significant expansion/changes.

George should stop yapping and just finish some books so the tv shows wouldn't run into the same problem everytime.
Isn't the F&B book supposed to be in the style of a third party, unreliable account of the events? Even with the understanding as a reader that it's hard to trust the apparent neutrality of the account, on top of the meister or historian behind it taking some liberties about events that happened behind closed doors with most first hand sources dead?
Never read it, but from the beginning not even the show is framed that way, so of course things are gonna be changed to facilitate the telling of a story in a TV show format.
I think it's very hard to do a completely faithful adaptation of that kind of material, no matter how much the original author wishes it to be. And he was supposed to be much more involved in the show (and like writing 5 other shows) to make sure his voice was stronger this time around.

He's not even mad, he's praised the show a lot he just gets hung up on details sometimes (which is understandable as the writer)

Acolyte last episode
as dumb as the rest of the show I hope it doesn't get green lighted for a second season

"the speculation that he isn't overly thrilled with the adaptation of his book" Is a Reddit user taking a sentence in a 1700+ words blog post from GRRM (which he starts by saying how good he thought a certain battle in EP4 was) and shaping it to fit the narrative they want to push.
Not to mention his previous blog entries where he praises episode 1 & 2, while still expressing his sentiments about some changes from the book.
Also him not visiting the S3 writers room can be simply be due to schedule conflicts, after all he hasn't write any episode for the show and he has already talked to them about S3/S4.
Dec 6 Entry:
It was not all tromping through sets, though. I also spent two days locked in a room with Ryan Condal and his writing staff (Sara Hess, Ti Mikkel, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett) talking about the third and fourth seasons of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON. They were lively, fun discussions, and we got some good work done… though two days was not nearly enough. There is so much ground to cover that I am not sure twenty days would have been enough.

The Acolyte was the Star Wars content I was most excited about since ROTS.
I have always been a huge fan of the expanded universe and was looking forward to non Skywalker era material.
Sadly, it failed to live up to my expectations. It had its moments, but the story and acting were mostly poor.
But as this is Star Wars, it did just enough to make me excited enough for a second series.
I had wondered the whole time if The Stranger was actually a Sith. He never actually said he was a Sith, but rather the Jedi would call him one. But was pretty obvious there was gonna be a bigger bad revealed this episode. And from the looks of things he could be a Munn, so it is pretty obvious we are getting Plagueis.
I would actually be just as happy if a second series was not made and they just continue the story with comics.

I'm really into the High Republic Star Wars books but Acolyte just didn't click for me. Just felt very average, I think I'd even rank the Boba Fett show above it.
If they're doing a second season it will need to be a massive step up in terms of writing and episode length. Too many of the episodes felt short and ended at really odd places.
You should give the High Republic books, they're much better than this and only a few characters(like Yoda pop up in them and even then they use him sparingly.

An episode of X-Men '97 got nominated for an Emmy. That's all I'll say since Daze just started the show.

Thanks for the rec. i haven’t read many of the new canon books, mainly Vader comics.
Due to the past weekend's events Amazon added a disclaimer and completely removed the episode title Assassination Run for the finale which was revealed by Eric Kripke a few weeks back.
Warner Bros Discovery (WBD.O), the owner of CNN and HBO, has discussed a plan to split its digital streaming and studio businesses from its legacy TV networks in a bid to boost its flailing stock price, the Financial Times reported on Thursday.
The media giant's shares jumped 6.5% in premarket trading.
