By Mister Go To PostFallout was entertaining but it looked really cheap and fake. The world also felt really small, the scale was wack.
Scale was what annoyed me the most, although I understood it in the last episode why everything was actually so small. I just thought it was gonna be a The Last of Us type journey.
Final episode did blow me away with some of the revelations, is this how shit played out in the games?
Xmen97 with another banger ep
Rogue yeeting captain America shield was funny af. Go fetch.
they really gotta bring this DeMayo guy back

hmm, i feel the opposite way; think it looks good, visually. this feels like a more believable and lived in world than, say, the last of us.
i'm six episodes in. not blowing me away, but it's fun.
My mum's watching the first episode of Sherlock S3
At the time I could tell it had declined, but seeing it again I think the style is just fucking annoying, and the substance is complete dogshit.

I still enjoyed season 3 and 4, but they definitely jumped the second after coming back the season 2 finale.
Great episode 3 of The Sympathizer
A shame Park Chan-wook didn't direct the whole season because he is doing an excellent job, hopefully considering he is heavily involved with the rest of episodes the downgrade isn't too much.
Yeah I think RDJ performance(s) is going to make or break the show for most people.

By Zabojnik Go To PostHaven't read the book.
It took me most of episode 1 to synchronize with the show's frequency, but once I did … Yeah, it's great.
The one thing that's not really working for me so far - and I hate to say it, 'cause he's clearly putting in effort - is RDJ. His performances feel … too much even for a show that's very set up for it with all its tonal shifts. Maybe he'll win me over tho, so I'll reserve final judgement.

it was alright. kind of felt like lost. will tune in for s2.
He's not really wrong. It wouldn't air on NBC/ABC/FOX and would have to air on FX/HBO/Premium Channel....wouldnt really be Seinfeld if it did.
These old, out of touch comedians keep blaming woke but Always Sunny, South Park, Family Guy etc are still on the air and thriving.
I think they're just big mad that their lame ass jokes aren't good enough anymore.

Right, but nobody runs cancel Curb campaigns. His points that you can't say the shit he used to are facile, because there's beloved TV that does say some very dark shit, but not just that, Seinfeld wasn't some bastion of edgy/raw comedy.

Isn’t that what “Curb” is all about?
Yeah. Larry was grandfathered in. He’s old enough so that—“I don’t have to observe those rules, because I started before you made those rules.” We did an episode of the series in the nineties where Kramer decides to start a business of having homeless people pull rickshaws because, as he says, “They’re outside anyway.” Do you think I could get that episode on the air today?
But you think Larry got grandfathered in and there could be no thirty-five-year-old version of—
Right, right. If Larry was thirty-five, he couldn’t get away with the watermelon stuff and Palestinian chicken . . . and HBO knows that’s what people come here for, but they’re not smart enough to figure out, How do we do this now? Do we take the heat, or just not be funny? And what they’ve decided to be is, Well, we’re not going to do comedies anymore. There were no sitcoms picked up on the fall season of all four networks. Not one. No new sitcoms.
Goin by Seinfeld's logic in the interview....Sunny/South Park/etc would all be in the same boat as Curb. Sunny premiered almost 20 years ago, Family guy? 25 and South Park even older. He's saying those shows are allowed to be "edgy" because they existed before the shift. Grandfathered in.
I....just dont see what's so disagreeable about that. Like you said, Seinfeld wasn't some bastion of edgy/raw comedy but can you name a successful sitcom that premiered in the last 10 years that dared to be as mild as Seinfeld? Off the top of my head, shit like Modern Family, Blackish, New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine(scust), Schitt's Creek(ugh) make Seinfeld look like The Boondocks.
The fact that people are comparing Seinfeld to Sunny or South Park(instead of the popular network sitcoms of the last decade) proves his point.
The woke/anti-woke/cancel culture bullshit grift is ever prevalent but sometimes shit is what it is.

and even then, sunny had like 6 episodes pulled that hulu and disney plus.
there is some truth to it like.
Not to mention that Sunny has been trash for like 4 seasons and absolutely avoids some of the shit they joked about before.
Eh only the last 2 or 3,
hero or hatecrime did happen just 3 seasons ago after all, when luigi said the hard r. that did air in 2017 though, long time ago at this point.

These comparisons dont make sense.Viewing habits have changed drastically since Seinfeld. The most watched TV shows in the 90's had more than 20M viewers, nowadays it's a miracle if a scripted tv show does 10M.

Edgy comedies biggest comedies are young people, a segment of the audience that is moving away from network tv and towards streaming,
A lot of old sitcoms and shows have had episodes pulled.
Even The Simpsons had a few pulled.
There will always be a place for sitcoms and there will always be some who work at the boundaries and thrive.
But yeah, you can't use your old material in a 2024 paint job and then cry woke when it doesn't work because it's old and rehashed slop.
Something like Seinfeld can 100% work these days but it'll be on streaming or cable.

The only one I remember being removed was the Tianamen Square one (because Woke Gen Z obviously)
The Michael Jackson one was removed years before Disney owned it because of the Neverland documentary

Never played the game and not sure if that’s impacting my opinion, but I’m enjoying fallout. Weird ass fucking show lol
Regarding scale: not sure if it feels small, but she’ll be walking in a vast sea of sand heading towards a fucked up city and then all of a sudden be near water and trees and such. It feels more like they’re not expressing distances traveled well enough and that’s what’s jarring.

I enjoyed Fallout overall, about as good as you could expect from a TV show based on.... the Fallout video games.
The big scenes in the observatory at the end felt weird because they were too obviously shot on a set and the lighting of the whole thing felt really off like a badly calibrated LED Volume / Stage Craft.

imagine thinking something like those sunny episodes are them punching down, which clearly many do. it's literally a show about how big losers they all are, how just about anyone who engage with them end up having horrible lives too, cause the gang are horrible people with little to no self awareness.

Fallout was proper 6/10 stuff. Was fine. Nothing particularly great about it. Nothing particularly bad.

I don't agree with Seinfeld. Yeah maybe the big mainstream shows have gotten more cookie cutter and wholesome but i attribute that more to people being tired of politics, covid and the state of the world in general so they like nice shows over edgy ones.
And seinfeld is a ugly pedo.

Seinfeld wouldn't exist but because it would air 1-2 seasons then get cancelled for tax reasons

… though in this instance I don’t think the distinction between network and cable tv matters much. It doesn’t matter if you can only do cable, Jerry is acting like it just can’t be done. Maybe it can only be done on Netflix … okay????? Bill Burr isn’t edgy?

I was going to say, in the most prejudicial way I possibly fucking can, that Netflix is the perfect platform for Jerry Seinfeld. The home of Gervais, Chapelle, Burr and all of the other tell-it-like-it-really-is shitcunts.
