By Zabojnik Go To PostLoved the ending of ep1, I just can't get past the "generic western animation" look of it.It gets a tiny bit better in terms of animation but obviously the art style is the same. Still worth it
Animation budget looks pretty similar to the original DC "pg-13" adaptations they've been pumping out over the last decade. Guess that's the comp. If the show takes off, you might get some sakuga here and there. There was a shot during the Doc Seismic fight that came outta nowhere
Not blow-your-mind good, but someone put effort into it

Yeah I mean you can tell the team behind it knows the animation is subpar, they focus most of the resources for the fight scenes and it shows.

you can really feel the effect of COVID on Snowfall's production but last nights ep was a return to form.
The New Adventures of Old Christine is a solid background noise sitcom, HBO Max has quite a decent Nick@Nite selection.
Amber's pops on Invincible Battle Beast funny as hell. Your daughter got superpowers man. You dont dictate anymore. You suggest.
I think some folks will feel this ep is a little draggy but I like spending time w/ these characters.

RIP Helen McCrory. She played Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies and Polly in Peaky Blinders. I didn't realise she was married to Damien Lewis.
By Daz Go To PostYeah, FRINGE is way better.Fringe was a brilliant show. It's overarching narrative was far more coherent than XFiles and honestly the acting was better too.
John Noble's performance as Walter Bishop didn't get the mainstream recognition it deserved.
By Daz Go To PostYeah, FRINGE is way better. You are a person of extremely bad taste.
X Files was great until Mulder is gone which is 5? seasons.
Fringe is also 5, so quit while you're ahead.

Stopped watching before Mulder left as well, but there are a few really entertaining ones. All in all, a fun show
First three or four seasons are brilliant, but soured by how shit it became well before it was cancelled

Yes! Brother!
In total and complete agreement.

Was already bad before and the overall plot was bad. Monster of the week was pretty incredible at times, but the overall plot by Chris Carter was just meh.
By Patriotism Go To PostHe's never hit the mark for me, same as the zoolander guy. I think the only time i laughed in that movie was the bit with the petrol fight. The gas station scene is great
By Pennywise Go To PostSeason 8.Chris Carter wanted to finish the show originally at season 5 but Fox pushed him to do to more seasons.

X-Files was an amazing show, people have to realize they were pushing a long lasting arc in 1993, years before we had the golden age of TV.
Saying that Fringe is better is stupid because Fringe wouldn't have happened without the X-Files.
Fringe is the easiest comparison to the X-Files because it's pretty much a copy of it but without the impact that Mulder and Scully had but it's not the only one show that was created thanks to the legacy of the X-Files.
Without The X-Files we wouldn't have shows as Buffy, Angel, Lost, Fringe, Supernatural and a bunch of others, and I am just talking about overall plot in terms of influence.
Final Destination started as a script for an X-Files episode that was rejected but the producers helped turn into a movie that ended up in a 5 movie franchise, Vince Gilligan sent a script for an X-Files episode and ended up part of the writing team which lead him to direct an episode in which Bryan Cranston played a guest role, Gilligan said that he learned everything about being a show runner from Chris Carter and that X-Files episode pushed him to fight to get Cranston as the lead in Breaking Bad so without the X-Files there wouldn't be any Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul.
The X-Files was a show that ended up with two very good spin offs (The Lone Gunmen and Millenium), a solid movie and an average one,x
Besides that, it was a worldwide hit. I was a kid when it aired and it was the only show I was allowed to stay up to watch because my mother knew how much I loved it.
My post is not without a bias, I don't think there's a show I love more than The X-Files. The first thing I bought when I got a job was the DVD boxset of the original run of The X-Files. Before that, when I was a student with low funds, I bought most seasons individually even when I had to sacrifice one or two better meals for that.
The thing is that show was incredibly influential, some of the episodes can easily be qualified as some of the best episodes in TV ever.
The X-Files wasn't afraid to break the mold, one week you had some serious episodes and the next week you had some weird episodes yet both were amazing.
The fact that the show turned out to be so good is a testament to Carter's commitment, he was the only one who wanted Gillian Anderson as Scully while Fox's producers were pushing Pamela Anderson for the role.
It's an incredible show that was way ahead of it's time.
I'm not going to go on with comparisons to Fringe because I never watched that show completely but once again we are talking about a show that would never existed without The X-Files.
Anyone else seen Millennium?
Also by Chris Carter, not as good as prime X Files but has some great episodes aswell.
Plus, Lance Henrikssen killing it.

caught this show last night channel surfing called Cruel Summer before bed
the content is CW high school drama fare but the setup is pretty interesting to see
starts out w/ a kidnapping in June 93, they find the kid in June 94, and June 95 there's legal proceedings going on and the story jumps between the 3 summers to explain everything. like a compacted This Is Us type storytelling.
each ep is told from a different character's POV.
instead of telling you when it's jumping from summer to summer, the show relies solely on you paying attention to how the characters look and the color tones from scene to scene, to figure out the timeline. i think it'll lose a lot of folks because of that.
mostly curious at this point to see if the show collapses under its own structure.
