By Daz Go To PostI miss 20+ seasonal arcs.Hard disagree. Can't think of many shows at all that justified that kind of episode count (I can think of....The Simpsons?).
Gives plenty of characters room to grow.
10 episode seasons of current era always feel rushed to their conclusions.
Sopranos certainly didn't struggle to give characters room to grow and they were 13 episode seasons, which tbf is something of a sweet spot I think for certain shows. Any more than that is a hard sell for me now though

Big production hbo shows won’t work with that many eps.
But shows like Lost with a big cast, high concept, mystery box and massive cast need the longer run time and over time, if done well. They are rewarding to rewatch to find things you missed.

I love Lost, really love it. But there is so much filler in those first 3 seasons, the 4th and 5th are so much better paced than the first 3. The 6th is such a mess despite the episode count that I'm not even going to count it
season 6 is underrated, and the episode with richard alpert is one of the best episodes in the whole show. pls @me
Filler episodes are the trade off. But they offer the writers a chance to experiment.
But the Lost you love doesn’t work in a 10 episode per season format.

Someone could edit those first 3 seasons down to 16 eps and they wouldn't lose much imo.
Lost could've been told in 4 seasons and 13 episodes what are we doing here
And GoT was worse for it because it spent so long to get to its conclusion that it was somehow rushed because nothing was happening for a long ass time

You “”COULD”” tell Lost’s story in two films.
This isn’t about what you can or can’t do. It’s about about what you lose or gain from the difference formats.
Lost isn’t beloved for its tight and concise storytelling chops.

would it really be the same, if i dont get a whole episode about jacks tattoo.
but that is actually not even the worst episode. the worst one is that one early in season 3, that focuses on two completely new characters, that we have never seen before and never really see again after. nikki and... her husbando or whatever

Its filler in the first 3 seasons is one of the biggest, common, criticisms of the show. You may have a point if they didn't tighten up the pacing in the final 3 seasons, but that is literally how half the show's seasons were formatted. So suggesting it may have improved the first 3 (which it would have), isn't some crazy thing.
By Laboured Go To PostHow do you tighten up the pacing when they didn't actually know where the story was going? The JJ Abrams special
Don't think there was much or really any filler in the first two seasons of Lost. Rewatched those two seasons during the pandemic.

Season 3 is by far the worst for it, the writers have said as much. They were just spinning plates until they decided the end date, at which point the show became much more focussed
Wonder if I'd like Lost a lot more if I'd watched lt all as it aired. Stopped when it went to Sky which was after season 2 I think, and only caught up six or seven years ago.
Succession keeps delivering
"Just cleaning the board, wiping the board"
"Don't lose it tonight, Dave"
"It's not that lemon-y!"

Fucking hell.
How can TV be this good. That was perfection from start to finish.
But what was the last word Kendall said? I couldn’t make it out.
BTW, I owe an apology to Kidjr, was 100% right about Roman. 100 times better than those other two idiots. Kendall looked like a deer in headlights for most of the episode.
Jeremy Strong is incredible how he can play a super confident Kendall one second and a shivering wimp Kendall the next.

Some Succ thoughts:
Roman is Logan's killer. But that's all he is. Logan would have played it like Roman, but Roman is far too emotionally unstable to every be able to carry something like Waystar or ATN successfully for any period of time. His stuff with Gerri is a time bomb that he can't diffuse.
Kendall just doesn't have it. Roman was right, he knew exactly how his Dad would have played it. He isn't Logan and he'll never be. He shyed away from the decision making until it was too late and the wheels were already in motion. The fact he thought about the country and his children is proof enough for me that he'll never be Logan. But he might….might just end up being an ok guy (in relative terms).
Shiv is the biggest fucking idiot out of the three. She simultaneously fucked herself, the country, her family and has ended up with nothing. She might blow it up, but she'll have nothing left either. All she had to do was make that call, or make an offer to Greg for his silence. Fucking fool.
I don't know how the fuck this ends. That episode 9 preview showed absolutely nothing, which suggests a LOT is going to go down at the funeral. I can't fucking wait. But fuck, I wish there was more.

The way Tom described information as a bottle of fine wine was perfect foreshadowing because it showed the contrast with how Shiv uses it versus her brothers.
Also, I don't think Kendall didn't know what to do I think he was legitimately conflicted between his moral and business side. Roman clearly has no such conflicts. Shiv thinks she's on nothing but the moral side of history, which is why...

Oh man, 100%
Roman is currently the best out of the three, but yeah, he just wanted to fire everyone and acted like a dick to Madsen on the mountain. Way too much of a hot head.
Shiv fucked herself because she couldn't even pretend to make Greg an offer. Another great Greg episode.
And i can't believe there are only two episodes left, I have no idea how they can wrap this all up. I haven't seen the trailer, but I am assuming this funeral is gonna be GOAT tier.

They showed fuck all of it in the preview, a big contrast to literally every other preview (with the possible exception of episode 3)
I just have more sympathy for Shiv. Pregnancy hormones messes you up, and nobody wants to talk about that? Brothers cut her out, three is a crowd? Not one of the boys. Youngest out of three. Woman. Coming out at that moment? Ouch girl. It’s fake news night. What’s real and what isn’t? Greg, as real as it gets here.
We’ll see, part of me would love to see Shiv level the place. Don’t see how. There’s no ending to this. Willa for life.

Shiv's been doing this nonsense since Day 1. Pregnancy be damned -- that's only a recent development.
She never went through the fire on the business side like her brothers did. She ran off and became a political consultant because that's where her moral compass pointed her to, and when she tried getting back into the family business she made demands based off no experience. She wanted to run Europe! And all that is leading to a predictable conclusion.
She has the worst of her father's anger and none of his business instincts. She thinks her father made good business deals because he was mean to people and belittled them, not because he played the game of quid-pro-quo to perfection.

Oh man, this is spot on too.
Roman tried to work in different parts of the business to build experience, but Shiv just thought she could walk in there with no experience and deserved to be CEO.
