By DiPro Go To Postgermany still goat for the post ww2 rebrand. Not really, Nazism is still the default evil.
By blackace Go To PostNot really, Nazism is still the default evil. But that's why the rebrand is so good.
By DiPro Go To PostBut that's why the rebrand is so good. They have to teach what they did wrong and make laws to prevent it from happening again... and people still default Germans as the model of evil.
Meanwhile, Japan skates by on kawaii power.
By DY_nasty Go To Postyou can't even rep germany too hard at the world cup without getting checked by securityYou can fly the Imperial flag any where any time you want in Japan
By blackace Go To PostThey have to teach what they did wrong and make laws to prevent it from happening again… and people still default Germans as the model of evil.there was no burrying the nazi thing. especially if you made the king of soft power your enemy and attacked almost all of your neighbours. so they went with a different strategy and now not even 80 years later they are the leaders of europe and one of (if not the most) liked country in the world.
Meanwhile, Japan skates by on kawaii power.
japan did good too.
By DY_nasty Go To Postjapan ez but belgium being known for waffles alone is top tier rebrandingWe only have one good waffle city anyway, why doesn't no one mention our hundreds of award winning beers?

Because everybody thinks those are German
By blackace Go To PostBecause everybody thinks those are German😂
By blackace Go To PostBecause everybody thinks those are GermanTrue, we hear that a lot.
And our fries are French.
And we are French, except when we're Dutch.
It's Belgium for me
Germany I wouldn't call a rebrand, not in the same way these other countries have done some "look-over-there" shit. Germany aren't hiding their history, as said you simply can't, but that also doesn't count as a rebrand to me.
France's image has never seemed hugely post-atrocity, but maybe that's a European thing.
Japan I feel like has this line drawn post nuclear bombing, which is crazy, but is what it is.
Belgium reads to most as this idyllic little place, seat of European democracy. It's the place where the fewest people I know have any knowledge of their historical atrocities.

By LabouredPatriot Go To PostCan't believe we, the protagonists of history, are once again being attacked out of jealousy.make england great again
Yeah, they don't really cover a lot of the atrocities we pulled in school either. There's a little for sure, but they gloss over it pretty quickly.

You are a District Attorney and you... do that? I hope the new DA gives him a plea bargain he can't refuse just like he must have done to innocent minorities many a-times.
Speaking of rewriting history:
But the goal was only partially to nurture an interest in the past. The central aim of the new curriculum guidelines, unveiled by the Hong Kong government this month, was much more ambitious: to use those historical stories to instill in the city’s youngest residents a deep-rooted affinity for mainland China — and, with it, an unwavering loyalty to its leaders and their strong-arm tactics.
Students, the guidelines said, should develop “a sense of belonging to the country, an affection for the Chinese people, a sense of national identity, as well as an awareness of and a sense of responsibility for safeguarding national security.”

But I thought companies like deregulation so that they can cut through the red tape and pass the savings onto their consumers?
