Still amazing to me that Trump only took out a few randos with their super spreader events. Although after looking at black hands Mitch and Pink-Eye Pence go about their business, I'm not sure they can be killed.

QAnon is pretty scarier conspiracy than the moon landings. No one is harbouring ambitions of overthrowing the govt or killing people over the moon landings being faked (which they were btw).
Edit: doh I misread and thought the original tweet was understating the Q threat

By Fenderputty Go To Postoddly enough the two directly overlap
My biggest takeaway here is that way more people think the moon landing was fake than I assumed
10% seems a disconcertingly high percentage to set as a low bar
Ideally less than 1% would claim to believe it, with the majority of them just saying they do for the lols
It's subjects seem far more individual, explicitly named and targetable than the other conspiracies I'm aware of.

By Hitch Go To Post10% seems a disconcertingly high percentage to set as a low barOn pretty much every survey, you'll always get 5% of answers that are just complete nonsense, expressing belief in every possible conspiracy theory, or giving completely wrong answers or just misinterpreting the question. So when looking at % in a survey, you need to account for the % of people who are trolls, who don't pay attention, or are just really dumb.

I think trolls are actually invested in what they are doing. They might not be zealots but they are invested.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostI don't think it matters which set of politicians we have, they'd all have done the exact same. The rot goes a lot deeper. It's capitalism "working" as intended.no it isn't, housing is a perfect example of capitalism not being able to work. A rampant free market in housing would produce crappy housing, ugly housing, even dangerous housing, but one thing it would definitely manage is to produce enough housing and keep costs low.
Prices in Victoria aren't too bad. If I could make what I make here there I would go back in a second. Might be the play later on in life.
By sohois Go To Postno it isn't, housing is a perfect example of capitalism not being able to work. A rampant free market in housing would produce crappy housing, ugly housing, even dangerous housing, but one thing it would definitely manage is to produce enough housing and keep costs low.Stuff like housing and healthcare do not operate by the same principles of supply and demand - elasticity of something like housing is non-existent, because it is a necessity with no substitute for. There is 0 incentive for the capitalists in a free market economy where housing is considered a speculative asset, to make housing prices low. The developers know that people need houses and will pay whatever they charge. Otherwise, wtf is the alternative? To just go without a dwelling? In an entirely "rampant free market" you would get crappy housing, ugly housing, and even dangerous housing, but you wouldn't get cheaper housing. The costs for the developer might be low but not for the buyer.
The market is completely warped and everyone involved knows that and prefers it that way. Hence why the state, developers, and the financial system at large, are vehemently against any kind of change from the status quo.
The incentive to enter the housing market is abnormal profit; the reason developers want to keep the system as it is is because only developers can navigate the planning policies of many regions. But you don't need to discuss economic theory, there is plenty of proof of cities and regions that have less restrictive development policies also having cheaper housing and keeping it cheaper.
You don't have to argue for a free market approach to house building, I'm sure there's a fully state controlled solution that would work, but I don't think it is in any way correct to state that housing markets are a failure of capitalism

The commodification of housing and seeing it as a lucrative "investment" is absolutely the fault of the capitalist mode of production and why housing is as broken as it is in Canada.

Someone remotely accessed a computer for the city’s water treatment system and briefly increased the amount of sodium hydroxide, also known as lye, by a factor of more than 100, Gualtieri said at a news conference Monday. The chemical is used in small amounts to control the acidity of water but it’s also a corrosive compound commonly found in household cleaning supplies such as liquid drain cleaners.
The city’s water supply was not affected. A supervisor working remotely saw the concentration being changed on his computer screen and immediately reverted it, Gualtieri said.
yeah i saw that earlier. don't think people realize how often infrastructure is attacked lol. most large cities and states actually have to report that shit up now too i think

The attempt on Friday was thwarted. The hackers remotely gained access to a software program, named TeamViewer, on the computer of an employee at the facility for the town of Oldsmar to gain control of other systems, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said in an interview.
“The guy was sitting there monitoring the computer as he’s supposed to and all of a sudden he sees a window pop up that the computer has been accessed,” Gualtieri said. “The next thing you know someone is dragging the mouse and clicking around and opening programs and manipulating the system.”

TeamViewer uh? Are we sure it wasn't one of those tech scammers getting one over one of the employees?
There's a reason infrastructure employees gotta get a background check by the FBI. A friend of mine worked for a power plant as an engineer and waited six weeks for a proper check to clear.
