One of the men uttered a racist slur moments after shooting Mr. Arbery, one of his co-defendants told the authorities. One of the trucks the men were in had a vanity plate with a Confederate flag symbol on it.This is V. America.
And yet over 10 days of testimony in a South Georgia courtroom, jurors heard no discussion of race or allegations of bigotry. Prosecutors largely shied away from the issue, despite chances to ask about it as they presented their case.
The absence has been notable, given that prosecutors signaled early on that they might make race an important aspect of their case.
On Thursday, Linda Dunikoski, the lead prosecutor, asked permission to tell the jury about the claim that Travis McMichael had used a racist slur — an allegation that Mr. McMichael’s lawyers have contested. Ms. Dunikoski faced significant legal hurdles in getting such evidence introduced. But before the judge could rule on the matter, the defense rested its case, and she declined her right to present rebuttal witnesses after hours of cross-examining Mr. McMichael on the stand.
A verdict has been reached so brace yourselves.

By inky Go To Postsounds like a quitterSome law about it apparently if one of the coalition party leaves the government. In this case it was the green party and reading why I am all for it as the other budget proposition was supported by some of the more 'right' friendly parties, see Sweden's Ukip.

I sure hope it worked like that here.

By reilo Go To PostIt's got all the good stuff, too, including the DA that got indicted because she refused to charge the men initially.Several DA's refused to do anything about it until it became national news, right...
By Lunatic Go To PostShould had been case the media focused on instead of that stupid Rittenhouse one.You expected the media to push the case that had like 3 DA's refuse to charge these men?
This trial was never even supposed to happen but people need their internet fame. There was no way it was getting focused on.
There is hope when the he lunged for my gun so I had no choice but to execute him defense didn't work.

People been dying in the Aegean and east med due to Frontex and Greek boats literally shooting people, putting holes in their boats so they sink and drown. It's only a problem when you get to the whiter nations of Europe, it seems. Otherwise swept under the carpet.

ORANGE CITY, Fla. - A pregnant Volusia County librarian was killed in an alleged road rage incident in Orange City over the weekend. However, investigators have identified the victim as the aggressor.Bang bang, he shot me down🎵
Sara Nicole Morales, 35, was shot outside her house after deputies said she drove home to get a gun following some sort of altercation with a motorcyclist.
According to Orange City police officers, Morales was involved in an incident with the motorcyclist on N. Volusia Avenue just after 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Investigators said Morales was behind the wheel of a blue Kia when she intentionally hit the motorcycle in the 1400 block of N. Volusia Ave. and then fled the scene, traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 17-92. The motorcyclist and a witness followed Morales to the intersection of 17-92 and Wisconsin Ave, where they attempted to get her to stop.
The motorcyclist and witness continued to follow Morales to her home while also contacting law enforcement, authorities said.
According to police, when Morales arrived at her house, she entered the residence to retrieve a gun and a confrontation took place in the roadway. Morales was shot multiple times by the motorcyclist.
Police said the motorcyclist, who has a concealed weapons permit, remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.
Orange City Fire Rescue responded to provide medical care at the scene before Morales was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.
According to those close to Morales, she was approximately four to five months pregnant. She leaves behind an 11-year-daughter and a fiancé.
The investigation is ongoing and no one has been charged.
yeah i saw the story unfold as florida coverage is generally riveting top to bottom. also i've been on the other end of a few hit and runs so like....
after you try to kill someone twice good luck
after you try to kill someone twice good luck
By inky Go To PostDid you follow them home while packing too?yeah, and honestly shit like that is exactly why started to carry too
It seems so wild to do that, especially in FL.
but i don't blame anyone who decides to follow a vehicle that just fucked them over. way too easy to get away with that type of thing and its not like these insurance companies are your friend either. at least that guy had a witness along for the whole fiasco
A witness helps, as does calling the cops, but man... at that point you are just doubling your chances of getting lit up.
Like, once you do that the outcome I would expect 100% of the time is them trying to finish the job.

police are horrendous at handling hit and run stuff in general. if you're in that position, the options are basically take some initiative in getting out in front of a long, losing battle where you're holding all the bullshit yourself or actually making sure they're around for LE when they arrive.
most people aren't dumb enough to make a bad situation worse by trying to catch a murder charge and shooting out on the freeway or in a parking lot over a collision. they just want to skate away if possible. if that's not on the table anymore it almost always turns into everyone just wants to not see shit escalate.
but if someone wants to go that route, being more ready for it than they are never hurts. i've done that whole dance barehanded and i didn't get to choose either. its overrated

By Lunatic Go To PostIt would have easily costed double that being a government infrastructure program.Double? you're being conservative. It would have cost way more than that, late by 10+ years and look nothing like the originally proposed plan. The maintenance cost would baloon out of control and it would literally be a social walfare jobs program at that point.
