By DY_nasty Go To PostThose two are so fucking cringe and CNN just ultimate jokes for all that shit.
i can't believe bill won lmao
I know there's always Florida but we really gotta be asking if Texas might be the worst state: https://www.npr.org/2021/08/10/1026573381/texas-democrats-can-bec-lawmakers-can-be-arrested-for-evading-votes
Damn, Oregon should have tried that when the GOP fled the state few years ago to prevent emission restrictions
Lol Dems
Lol Dems
Difference between Republicans and Dems is that Republicans actually follow through with their threats.

Senators Joe Manchin III of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona voted to advance a budget blueprint through the legislative process but have signaled they want to see total cost drop.these giant cunts
By reilo Go To Postthese giant cuntsI hope The Squad and Bernie tell them to fuck off and just vote for it.
By maxpower Go To PostI hope The Squad and Bernie tell them to fuck off and just vote for it.They need both of them to pass it via reconciliation

My dream of everyone using public transit is coming closer
By Perfect Blue Go To PostClearly never been on public transit in the states 😂 It's a fucking hellscape.

Hey Cuomo is free now to go down there with a shovel himself and help him finish the project so help him god
By reilo Go To PostThey need both of them to pass it via reconciliationSorry, I meant tell Sinema and Manchin to just vote for it. They already got their bipartisan infrastructure bill.
By maxpower Go To PostSorry, I meant tell Sinema and Manchin to just vote for it. They already got their bipartisan infrastructure bill.Did the part where I called the two of them massive cunts not summarize enough that they won't just do that?
By Perfect Blue Go To PostThis won’t happen it’ll just get delayed like most projects they do

By aka Espi Go To PostThis won’t happen it’ll just get delayed like most projects they doI mean they are almost done lol construction is largely complete
I'm sure they'll try to neuter the shit out of it. They always act like they have all the leverage but if they want their bipartisan pet project to pass in the House I think the progressives will push them to give progressives what they want. Or they just don't and both bills fall through.
By Lunatic Go To PostClearly never been on public transit in the states 😂 It's a fucking hellscape.Yeah, there's more lines/stops than the one in the video..

Much better in London though..
By reilo Go To PostI mean they are almost done lol construction is largely completeOh I didn’t even watch the video
Just assumed they’d be working on it for decades like they do with everything else here
By aka Espi Go To PostOh I didn’t even watch the videoWell it's definitely massively over budget and behind 😂 but it's actually construction complete as of May. They need to wrap up electrical, test the rail and system, get vendors and signage in, etc.
Just assumed they’d be working on it for decades like they do with everything else here
But regardless I am legit surprised they pulled it off and did it without impacting Grand Central or anything on Park Avenue.
We all know how these government projects go. Just a way to steal tax dollars by delaying and delaying and then delivering an inferior product that will need consistent new work to drain more tax dollars. Damn thieves.
I mean all of that can be true and it can also be true that doing something like this in NYC without disrupting current services or the daily lives is an enormous task, and actually somewhat commendable that they even pulled it off.
The probably closer-to-truth answer from my perspective is that these types of infrastructure projects should've been attempted decades (a century?) ago with proper city planning.

Unfortunately, in North America there's many factors that prevent us from competing in infrastructure with the rest of the world, with majority of these issues being entirely manmade and political. Government projects outside of NA aren't anywhere near as dysfunctional as they are here, and it annoys me that there is such a culture in NA that believe government is incapable and incompetent at building infrastructure. It's a self perpetuating cycle that kills any kind of political will of trying to do better.
Because in other parts of the world its actualized as a public good with massive benefits and not part of a larger culture war to appease a base during elections
If America was even 50/50 in terms of people using public transportation vs cars, would half these companies even exist? I feel like the only reason car manufacturers can exist is because we’re so car dependent and a family of 5 needs to have 5 vehicles
There is no chance in hell that I ever do public transit with the unwashed masses. Push for electric vehicles.
Eh
NA is also big. Europe frens and a lot of Asian countries also had other things to do outside of pledging allegiance to our auto overlords. We're fortunate to even have a quality highway system tbh

You can take a shower but the moment you step into a NYC subway you’re as dirty as a homeless person
I like the subway. Or at least I did when I rode it more often, which was up until last year
What I've learned so far is we have to work overtime setting up systems here to keep public works projects with tons of cash from getting robbed by the people that run the contracting companies and/or are buddies with the project heads. Or we just let them get robbed because we don't give a shit
Seems like if a fuckton of money goes to a project in the States that would otherwise benefit the masses, without intervention most of that cash is going to two people and there's maybe a one in four chance the project ever gets done. That's good old fashioned American ingenuity

I wonder how the hell will the US shift people away from fossil when gas is dirt cheap and everybody got their own truck/svu.
🤷🏻♂️
Only thing stopping him is the Bloc doing well in Quebec again. The other party leaders are just there to make up the numbers at this point, though I do like Jagmeet Singh even if he’s cringe “hellos fellow youths” way too often. O’Toole is a loser.
Not why I follow this dude, but he does an amazing breakdown of congressional shenanigans in the stock market.
