All kinds of shit needs a revising up to and including how we manage sheltering human beings. There's something especially egregious about "the best country on earth" and an ever growing homeless population because they can't afford basic housing. The worst is the continued "some people just wanna be homeless." Like if that's the first fucking thing out of your mouth when entire families are being evicted out onto the streets, congrats on being part of the problem.
By Lunatic Go To PostWouldn't mind some rain right now. It's been 100+ for the last week
Yeah it was 30c around there about 24 hours ago.
Normal af.
By Laboured Go To PostProbably just a one off isolated incident.

It's just one end of the spectrum of the same problem.
By inky Go To PostLet's all chip in and send one to flabberwouldn't that be socialism on itself m9
That type shit you gotta isolate the person from their misinfo dopamine binge and get a cult deprogrammer, but even then there's no guarantee that person is coming back from the brink.
Would suck if you couldn't get away from them. Americans seem to have strong opinions on basically everything 😂
People being easy to manipulate here is the feature
Critical thinking might make some people think they probably won't achieve millions by rising through the ranks for 8 bucks an hour. Side effect is they also believe their children are complicit in false flags

By i can get you a toe Go To Postfloods rarely get enough respect in how quick they can happen and their devastation
Oh they are going to be respected alright, we gonna be talking about floods very often.
I think infrastructure is more a problem than the weather itself tbh.... a lot of these situations are just plain old neglect
True but floods are going to start occurring more and more often in places that never had to deal with the likes of, which makes it very tricky.
Houston had two “1 in a 1000 year storms” back to back followed by a “1 in a 100” cold weather storm.
Nobody’s infrastructure is ready for unforeseen extremes
Nobody’s infrastructure is ready for unforeseen extremes
By i can get you a toe Go To PostI wouldn't bring up Texas at all in the discussion.
NY is totally fucked. Pick any east coast coastal city really. CA needs more aqueducts. Take your pick. Nobody is ready
By Fenderputty Go To PostHouston had two “1 in a 1000 year storms” back to back followed by a “1 in a 100” cold weather storm.they also built that city to get fucked. there's gonna be more michigan like dam breaks and NC overfarmed blowback than pure superfloods and stuff. done right, you generally build to prepare for the worst you're yet to see. instead the move is to wait for disaster and make sure you're not directly at fault. plus we sensationalize the fuck out of everything... the real scary shit is stuff salt lakes drying up and toxic dust fucking everything in the Midwest
Nobody’s infrastructure is ready for unforeseen extremes
but even with the China situation - those dams were fucked months ago and it wasn't even worth a cover up. the German news is going to have a story to tell too regarding everything that went wrong besides the natural element.
the droughts are one thing but even thinning and forest management suck and are behind the ball. even without climate change, many places are just waiting for regular catastrophes.

Nobody is readyI realize this, I'm just saying it muddies the waters (excuse the pun given the subject) talking about a state that manages to do even less than your average shit blue state or developed country.
There's an argument to be made we're seeing some of the most extreme weather that even well maintained infrastructure would have problems with, so why even bring up a place like Texas that is so royally fucked because they don't even care to have the most basic of shit implemented.

Fair enough, but I mostly brought up Houston as an example of increasing extremes in weather patterns. When’s the super tornado coming? Lol
All I’m saying is even the better planned places are gonna struggle with those types of extremes
