By aka Espi Go To PostBut states rightsIt's constitutional though. This kind of argument isn't valid. Of course a federal judge would rule that way.
Eh federal judges appointed by a particular party will rule in favor of that party's interpretation of the constitutional amendment. That's why it annoys me when people just focus on the Supreme Court, there's a bunch of fed judges that came out of Reagan, Bush and Trump that are complete idealogues.
Any of y'all listen to The Daily podcast? I don't check it out much but I have it on my feed and they posted a bonus episode of Ezra Klein's show with an interview of Obama. Thought it was a good listen: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/01/opinion/ezra-klein-podcast-barack-obama.html
cali's gun laws are dumb as hell anyways....
its always funny to see people wax poetic about AR15s though

Scalia's decision had nothing to do with banning "guns like the AR15" being something that you could do.

I would for damn sure move out of that county. Coca-Cola > life.

California citizens wanted this or did the judge and the gun nuts?
By Fenderputty Go To PostCalifornia citizens wanted this or did the judge and the gun nuts?I get what you are saying, really.
Some of those restrictions were downright dumb though. With the "boil the frog slowly" approach California has been taking regarding gun rights it was just a matter of time before a judge wiped restrictions out.
By DY_nasty Go To Postgive the dems a year
its not even mask off szn yet
They don't even need a year. The For The People Act is dead af. The John Lewis Voter's Rights Act is gonna die, for the same reason.
My idea for filibuster reform that Sinema and Manchin might buy into: The filibuster number should be dynamic. 95% of the majority party + 2 votes from the minority party should be enough to avoid a filibuster. The math on that now would be 48 dems + 2 republicans. We'd *probably* still get blocked on HR1, but be able to pass something like DACA. It's revamped to deal with this era of hyperpartisanship, and would let Sinema and Manchin off the hook to vote chaotically.
2021 and we still putting Trump on TV and Twitter?
I wonder who misses him more. His cult, the media, or “leftist” Twitter?

By reilo Go To PostSaw that the other day and yeah the system is unreal. I was most impressed by how large it is across the entire country and that my PASMO card works nationwide. Can use my card bought in Tokyo in Osaka.
This thread is now about Perfect Blue and I discussing good public transit
Also the cost is unreal. You can buy passes for specific routes and stations and I bought a 6 month pass from my apartment to campus and it only came out to $120 - 10 stops between the two points but unlimited travel for six months at that price is ridiculous. The Toronto subway is terrible in comparison in addition to being more expensive. I really like that it is a distance-based system in general for transferring and getting off.
A unified system like that is great but yeah it helps a lot that Japan zones land nationally is a unitary government unlike Canada and the US. I swear so many of our problems with infrastructure stem from the fact that the provinces and feds keep playing hot potato with budgets and funding to make sure the other level doesn’t pay. As well as municipalities zoning land for development and just putting more red tape around planning. So much bureaucracy and political negotiation.
Also peep this video too:
The part about profitability and building around the stations is so good.
We've gotten a real nice circling metro in Copenhagen now. But everywhere not Copenhagen has been downgraded badly for the last 15 years. Really sucks
By Perfect Blue Go To PostBloody dangerous when you on your bike or walking about.
Demonization of micro mobility is so strange. So you can basically only ride your escooter legally in your driveway? Smh. City needs to regulate this to allow it on public roads. I already see many people using this mode of transport anyway.
