Ms. Capito, joined by Senators Patrick J. Toomey of Pennsylvania, John Barrasso of Wyoming and Roger Wicker of Mississippi, said the group envisioned potentially repurposing unspent funds from pandemic relief legislation and using fees imposed on people who use infrastructure, including electric vehicle drivers, to pay for the plan.
Senator Joe Manchin III, Democrat of West Virginia and a crucial swing vote who has said he wants any infrastructure package to be bipartisan, told reporters on Thursday that the Republican plan was “basically a negotiating starting point.”This cunt

When they don’t negotiate he’ll give green light to reconciliation #2
He’s only definitive about the filibuster
We’ll see tho
Can't wait for Sinema to join in on the fuckery, and they both continue to waste everyone's time.

Pay higher wages but will it be done? My proposal... abolish tipping and kill two birds with one stone. Destroy the comically low wages the restaurant owners have been getting away with for decades and end tipping culture once and for all which everyone in the United States hates anyway. Biden said he wanted to be bold, well...

pat mccrory has been weak for years. it was just a matter of who was gonna snatch his chain not when
i really don't get people's infatuation with houston as a growing city beyond the blatant scam realty lol
and talking around how the lack of zoning contributed to the megafloods, rising pollution levels around schools, etc is kinda yikes.
edit: just so im not talking shit just to be talking shit, older article but kinda sums up the clusterfuck

Hell fuck that video too if it's talking how great Houston is for not zoning business, industry and housing.
It will take time to determine the exact cause of the fire and explosion at the fertilizer plant in West, Texas. The disaster has cost at least 14 lives, caused 200 injuries and has destroyed at least 50 homes. The blast was so strong that it blew out windows for miles, and even registered as an earthquake. First responders said the aftermath looked like “a war zone.”
Yet another question after the explosion is whether or not industrial facilities should be right next door to schools and residences like the one in West.Fuck Texas.
“In Texas, counties have almost no regulatory authority,” Haragan of UT Law says. “And we kind of don’t like land use [policies] in Texas. So we’ve ended up where facilities are very close to people.”
Haragan says that regardless of the cause of the West explosion, there’s one thing that could’ve been prevented: the plant’s proximity to homes and schools, which were built after the plant.
Hell fuck that video too if it's talking how great Houston is for not zoning business, industry and housing.
So all that deregulation in Texas led to multiple energy disasters, higher energy cost to the customer, unpreparedness for natural disasters in a region prone for it, and catastrophic plant explosions next to housing? And we're just talking this last decade?

Watched it. He skips and hops around the real reason a bunch of stuff is cheap, acts like it's solely deregs on development restrictions on housing size and stays mum about how the land or the location might be suss as fuck since they don't really care to keep industrial smoke out people's bedrooms.
By DY_nasty Go To PostiGave it a run through just now. How unique is this to Houston vs other major cities? I know LA for example has absolutely grim air quality on the best days.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostGave it a run through just now. How unique is this to Houston vs other major cities? I know LA for example has absolutely grim air quality on the best days.la is just good old natural horrendous convenient growth piled on top of itself over generations. houston tho has kinda always been the run off of dallas. and as a growing energy hub, its pretty much a scam that everyone is in on as far as development goes.
the area sinking *faster* due to 4+ decades of rapid development brushing aside groundwater concerns. land is gonna be cheap when its essentially on borrowed time. and there's no way to guarantee what's going to be adjacent to said property after a few years as well. but it goes a lot further than that imo. the fact that a group of investors can essentially manipulate the market over an entire area is really fucked up. it goes beyond traditional fuck ups like housing segregation to things like industrial musical chair shenanigans.
stuff that would be prevented by common sense like protecting necessary drainage functions, keeping remarkably consistent chemical hazards rolling downhill instead of back into populated areas, etc is normally some shit that would get long term residents residents outraged
but money and new people kinda push things to the side.
its wild because they can't even do a lot of new underground infrastructure shit because they're gonna need a massive tunnel network just to stave off the next megaflood. and all it took was the slightest oil shake up pre-rona to send wild volatility through the housing and office markets.
la ain't goin anywhere. houston is a city built on hedged bets by comparison. also the rockets are garbage.
@smokey. call me out. you been there longer than me
