Fill the gaps.
Unclear if this is gaps in unfinished wall or gaps in the finished wall that illegals use to hand drugs to one another
By Perfect Blue Go To PostSo he’s arguing that the internet should be treated like a public utility like water or electricity?

Time to shoot the kids into space
Came across this on Twitter and there’s multiple threads it could probably go into but
So as usual it’s Twitter and you always gotta Google it to make sure it’s legit. It is, but she’s only getting 25k. Imagine how much American healthcare is going to charge for this? They’re gonna make back 5000x that each year and they’re just gonna give her enough money to cover one semester at a university?

By Dr Espi Go To PostCame across this on Twitter and there’s multiple threads it could probably go into butShe got $25k as prize money but she says she is looking at getting a patent for this. It's a great idea and I love the low tech approach but it still needs a lot of testing so it could be a long time before we see it in use. Makes me feel like an idiot when I think about what I was doing when I was 17.

I guess politics since it’s sort of a philosophical question, but fucking wow what a thread and OG tweet to start it. She is totally fine with the Uber wealthy having access to genetic modification of embryos first. Then spends a thread explains this take.
Tsk about horse blinders
There's something I find particularly odious about the assumption that an intelligent person is automatically more empathetic or ethically inclined.
Right?
Sorts feel like she’s too focused on her specific field and only considering that perspective. I’m sure super humans are interesting to her, but like there’s other things to consider.
Economically the wealthy are currently gaming the system and wealth disparity has climbed as a result? Wealth is not remotely meritocratic either. It’s not some survival of the fittest test that’s advancing The species by weeding out tbe weak or some shit.
The Gattaca tweet bothered me too. We ain’t in utopia. The term utopia sort of Implies that’s an idealistic goal too.

Alexa, what are optics?
By Fenderputty Go To PostI don't know how others feel but I think there's a great deal of difference, morally, in selecting against genetic diseases versus selecting for a "smart, attractive" offspring (she believes they are equivalent).

(Speaking as somehow who will pass on a genetic disease if I do not do preimplantation genetic diagnosis)

Fairfax made the charge during a gubernatorial debate on Tuesday night while standing alongside McAuliffe and several other Democratic candidates.
"Everyone on that stage called for my immediate resignation, including Terry McAuliffe three minutes after a press release came out," Fairfax said at the debate, which was hosted by CBS 6. "He treated me like George Floyd. He treated me like Emmett Till. No due process. Immediately assumed my guilt."
By DY_nasty Go To Posthttps://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/546835-justin-fairfax-says-mcauliffe-treated-me-like-george-floyd-and-emmett-till]"Fairfax was accused of rape and assault in 2019. Meredith Watson, a former Duke University classmate, said Fairfax raped her in 2000. Vanessa Tyson, a professor at Scripps College, said Fairfax assaulted her in a hotel room at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
The lieutenant governor has vehemently denied both allegations and has compared them to false rape allegations by white women that led to the lynching of Black men, despite both of his accusers being Black."
