I think the idea is that they should be able to provide a good service but not use shady tactics to overwork/undercut their employees and their benefits. These things are not mutually exclusive. American capitalism has just wired our brains that any profit is worth fucking your employees over.

The hassle of having to go through security at an airport and the added time you need to account for to get in and out of an airport will be near equivalent to a high-speed rail experience. If you told me it's 2hrs 30mins by train and 1hr 15mins by plane I will gladly go via train.
