Eh Dy got a bit reductionist here. You have to register early and file as absentee in most other states. Oregon is just put a stamp on it or drop it off in an official box and you're good to go. Looked it up again WA, Colorado, Hawaii and Utah got it together now too.

man so many folks are directly effected by a local prop or measure out here and they regularly don't even know. ready made voters are sitting around all the time with zero involvement in anything and we talking about engagement is good.... if you ever think national or even state turnouts are bad in the us, look at local turnouts. that's why i spaz on a certain stuff the way i do. the disconnect is so real that many have to be convinced, repeatedly, that it exists.

only reason the turnout was even high in 2020 was because of the around the clock superbowl coverage about how we were all going to die without so much as a movie to break it up.
