honestly the more i think on it the dumber it gets

EDIT: gotcha
Shit like this just as shameless IMO. None of the parties are the same, but people acting like states created for senate packing is a new thing and doing so from states that start with “south” in the name.
I’m not whataboutism’ing this either. That intentional framing by Marshall was jokes
McConnell king of this shit

i get dc statehood is twisting up ppls underwear but goddamn.
feels like only the dc jetsons, blue checkmark addicts, and lifelong political trolls want dc to be a state anyways.... ppl in dc would just like the council to actually respect a vote consistently. can't protect servers and minority communities. fuck that. the real battle is *checks notes* statehood!
either way there's better ways to defend these types of attacks than "but but the midwest was established to pack the senate". its dumber than what the republicans are saying lol. the us was just gonna not expand now? making dc a state to pack the senate is 100% real. no use trying to bullshit about it.

I think PR statehood, over DC, makes more sense outside of party motivations for doing so.
None of these topics will get much honest debate.

By Fenderputty Go To PostI think PR statehood, over DC, makes more sense outside of party motivations for doing so.from PR to american samoa, a lot of places ain't exactly crazy about statehood...

Mega North Carolina scares you huh?
Edit: mega mass omg wow haha 😂
By Fenderputty Go To PostPR has been voting for statehood more and more recently, no?performative politics is definitely trending upwards. tru
but statehood is a lot more than just voting on national hot and sexy issues every few weeks so its not exactly the same.... fervor we're seeing for washington rn
Regardless, the topic of PR statehood shoukd be framed around PR’s desire to become a state or not, and not the political ramifications for either party. Instead half the country doesn’t even know they’re already citizens.

It's a fucking ball-ache. Had about 6 paragraphs written but I'd rather get it all to you free of emotion.
AKP going off the deep end. Last time we had shit like this it lead to the 1980 coup and that sucked for everyone.
Erdogan turned me away from my own country. I don't like being associated with Turkey any longer and most of its population if I'm being honest. In my lifetime, it's seemingly never been this corrupt, anti-western, religious and just plain ol' backwards. Erdogan is and has been a total fucking disaster, him and his cronnies have benefited from years of work from previous administrations and luck.
Erdogan's handling of Syria and his ambition to project soft/hard power in surrounding regions has been a disgrace, just look at the fucking chaos he has caused both outside and inside Turkey's borders. What Erdogan has done to the Kurdish population (and regions) within Turkey has been tragic and painful, what he's done to unsettle the Kurdish population outside of Tyrkey is short of human calamity.
Seeing Syrian refugees use fake life vests and then drown to death when their dinghy boats sink in an attempt to flee to Greece from Izmir, the same life vests knowingly sold by local Turkish shop owners... Man... You can't put words to that. Erdogan literally used the Syrian refugees as human missiles against EU in order to hold the EU hostage and receive billions in aid.. Aid money that went straight back to Erdogan and his cronies.
The brain drain exodus of Turks with Western values, leaving the country to go elsewhere because they no longer identify with their own country is real. Erdogan has shaped Turkey into something awful, I no longer recognize it. Some of my family members back in Turkey support Erdogan, or are forced to anyways if they want to land any jobs - good luck finding a job if you openly oppose AKP. Imagine a country where you can only survive if you support the existign regime... That's what Turkey has turned into, a toxic cultural wasteland of shit, and every Turk knows it. But hey, the food is great.
Erdgan has his coming, and when that day arives it's going to be fucking glorious.

By FortuneFaded Go To PostHasn't Kamala admitted to past drug use?
I think she gets around that because she just uses other people’s life stories.
By Lunatic Go To PostAdmit to recent or past drug use at a government job brehsat any job... shit don't admit to anything voluntary.
By blackace Go To Postat any job… shit don't admit to anything voluntary.Hey man particularly at a federal government job you would hope they knew better. But I guess then again for clearance they probably already knew.
Government buildings to fly Union flag every day
All government buildings in England, Wales and Scotland will fly the Union flag every day, following new guidance from the culture department.
Glad NI has different laws for this but I'm sure the DUP will be complaining about it not happening here
By Pedja Go To PostGovernment buildings to fly Union flag every dayMore mid-life crisis behaviour.
It isn't the norm for good reason - the Union Jack is heavily tied to an empire that no longer exist.
the flag has also been co-opted by the wrong sort.
that and obsession with flag-waving is a hop and skip away from jingoism cum fascism.

Like the Old Glory, it might be associated with a bunch of horrible ass shit, but that's what is representing the country.
Not saying I agree with it, but seems like the reasons you stated why it wasnt the norm, are the exact reasons why they would
By DY_nasty Go To Posti can only imagine an american 'culture department'Besides the propaganda ops the DoD does in the media everyday?
They got a budget for football 😂
Also, I could imagine one that the states just selectively ignore.
By blackace Go To PostBesides the propaganda ops the DoD does in the media everyday?imagine a 'secretary of culture' tho lol

By blackace Go To PostI mean, it's the national flag. lol They had specific days where they required buildings to fly the flag.Exactly just because people attach different meanings to it doesn't change the logical purpose. It's like asking why would the Republic of Ireland fly the EU flag along side the national flag. Or why the in America the state flag is flown alongside the US national flag. I think only Texas can fly it at the same height as the american national flag.
