We need to start killing games off when dominating.

Baffling really we have zero chance of getting anywhere in the league but we rested all our players for it and now we're out of the cup.
It's not all bad news getting knocked out of the FA Cup at least now Arsenal can concentrate on finishing 10th in the league.

Blimey!
Really not bothered by the cup exit. Much rather we focus on the league and the EL. What is winning another FA Cup gonna do?
By Vini.lad Go To PostI agree
sack him today
You call every single one of our players at one time or another shit and should be sold. So how can you blame Arteta when he has shit to work with?

Focus on the league for what, to finish 8th at best?
Today was an absolute disgrace. You only do what he's done when you're on a position where you can maybe get away with an elimination, which we definitely aren't atm. Now watch him rest players on the league once the Europa resumes.
Again, the only reason he's still here was because Auba carried the team to the title last season.

He already fucked our league season, got extremely lucky that Covid made him find ESR out of nowhere, and now just rested players to fight for 8th place in the league.
Amazing team management that.
Don't disagree with Vini lad.
Arse should be going for the FA full on. I suspect we'll play almost the exact team on Tuesday, no reason arsenal couldn't.
Unless the lads lack the grinta

Absolutely with shanks, no way I'm playing a full strength team today. Arteta believes top four is a possibility so focus on that. Can't wait to play soton again Tuesday. Hate them so much lol.

League Cup final tonight, it's a lesser cup but still a cup. Braga will be very tough but at least we have Nuno Mendes and Sporar back after the lab admitted they were false positives.
I mentioned this before but we now know exactly what happened and it's infuriating.
Sporting does an antibody test every day and they were always in line with the lab tests until the lab declared Nuno Mendes and Sporar as positive.
They were isolated and didn't play against Rio Ave (a game we drew 0-0) but Sporting decided two tested them again in two different labs and in two different days. The tests came back negative and Sporting informed the Regional Health Service who said that the players would be available to play and that the original lab hadn't even put Nuno Mendes on the registry of positive cases.
Cue Porto going berserk and saying we were committing a health service crime and were trying to get exceptional treatment (a similar case had happened before in other club so it wasn't like it was something unheard in the league).
The RHS went back on their decision and said that the players wouldn't be available to play until the lab would respond to the RHS's inquiry.
RHS contacted the lab on Tuesday morning, there was no response before the semi final against Porto so the players were unavailable for that match.
The lab only responded on Thursday and the players were cleared to join the squad.
The thing that makes it all seem even more strange is who are the people in the board of the lab that did the tests.
The CEO is an hardcore Porto supporter and the son of a former mayor of Gaia would had some suspicious connections to Porto that including building a training center for them and charging them 500€ a month for rent.
Another board member is a former Porto basketball athlete and son of a former Porto administrator.
And finally, the main doctor, the one who consistently denies that lab did something wrong, does frequent appearances on Porto Canal, a TV channel owned by FC Porto.
Could it be just a big coincidence? It can but given the corruption in all sections of this country, I wouldn't be shocked if this was true.

So Arteta is only still in his position because the FA Cup papered over the cracks? So try to win the same trophy to paper over the same cracks. Arteta is there to build for the future. Winning the FA cup won't make the biggest difference in the long term, but it will hamper the efforts for him to keep the players fit and build chemistry. I want to win every competition we are in, but with the number of games being played, fuck it, isn't worth the risk to the players.
Luckily you are not in charge. Because despite saying Martinelli was not very good, you would rather he stayed on and risk injury, despite just coming back from another one. Yeah, fuck Arteta.
Our league season isn't over. Things were very bad, but Arteta has steadied the ship. I don't know how high this team can climb, but the potential is still there for a 5th or 6th place finish, or 4th. I hope we do it. I hope Arteta can keep building on the improvements we have seen the last month, and not have distractions from a cup that we could win, but ultimately isn't going to impact the long term health of the club.
I don't know if Arteta is the right man long term, but my major problem with him was more his press conference than what was happening on the pitch. if the club are still willing to believe in and buy in to give him what we need, then so be it. If not, then they should get rid of him. But the FA Cup is not what he is gonna be judged
By Willkiller Go To PostThis is an amazingly stupid post
Arsenal are in a rebuilding phase. Putting our hopes into winning a trophy is fucking idiotic. it will tell us nothing about where we are as a club. Arteta should be concentrating on building chemistry and getting his tactics across to the players, which is better done when they are fit and fresh.
The idea that Arsenal should just exit the FA cup to focus on the league this season is fucking hilarious
Can't dispute the logic in throwing the cup competitions to focus on finishing top half in the league
By Willkiller Go To PostThe idea that Arsenal should just exit the FA cup to focus on the league this season is fucking hilarious
Season is at the halfway mark. First six games were ok, next six were historifally bad, and the last six we have taken the 5th most points. We might finish 4th, or we might finish 14th, but the most important thing is what Arteta is trying to build. The less distractions the better IMO.
By Punished* Go To PostArsenal's league campaign is clearly over.
We are only seven points behind you.

Yes, it was paper over the cracks. Winning it again could prove that it wasnt a fluke, which now we know it was.
Arteta was supposed to be the future, but he has already proven to not be.
Getting used to trophies is the best thing a football club can achieve on football. FA Cup is a tier 2 trophy nowadays at best but it's the maximum we can do right now.
Martinelli was having a bad game but he still could provide something out of the blue differently from the others that stayed the whole game.
Our league season is over. You're deluded if you think we have a chance of even getting into top 6. Don't be fooled by beating the likes of Newcastle, Brighton and WBA.
Arteta is not the biggest problem atm, but it's the easier solution to get rid of him than the rest of the players or board.
Idiotic is saying that being eliminated on the only competition we might win this season was ok/acceptable and saying our league season is still alive.

Thought we were bros.
didn't even bother waking up to see the match but i see it was just another demonstration of the massive gulf between our A team and B team, especially in the attacking side. Not that bothered about going out of the cup but we need to go all in on the EL now.
Also Willian once again may be the worst player on an Arsenal shirt, and Nketiah needs to be sold ASAP

If you want to shit on Arteta fair enough. But fuck off calling that win a fluke. You beat who is in front of you, and you get a trophy. In the last 30 years only 4 times there have been back to back winners. Three times it was Arsenal and the other was Chelsea. Winning just one trophy is hard enough without adding clauses to legitimise them.
We won three out of four FA Cups under Wenger and that did nothing to improve the overall competitiveness of the club. Arteta should be judged based on the league, and as such, he should focus on the league.
If you think our league season is over, then I don’t know what to say. Yeah, we might not have beaten a host of amazing teams, but that might be were the turn around starts.
I don’t even mind us finishing 10th or lower, what I want to see is an improvement from the team. League position isn’t the most important thing this year, but I am still hopeful that we can secure European football through a high league finish while seeing the necessary improvements.

If Arteta was only to be judged by league results, he should have been sacked by now. His league results have been worse than the worst spell of Wenger and even Emery. It was already bad last season and this one has been simply unnacceptable, he's only here because of the fluke FA Cup run. It was a fluke.
I really can't understand how you can think our league season is still alive, like, what the hell? Fucking Liverpool will struggle to make top 4 this season. Even getting an Europa League spot would be a massive task, and I'd rather stay out of it next season having in mind UCL is impossible.
I liked the idea of trying Arteta, but this idea has failed.

Because we are rebuilding with still a squad that is still very flawed. I was one of the biggest opponents of his signing, but we went down this route, and it is only fair that he is judged after a full season. And again, league position should not be a determining factor. Much more important things to judge him on.
I get the Arteta out, I wanted him gone after his comments to the press about six weeks ago. I was panicking with how close we were to the relegation zone. Luckily, he has turned things around. I just hope it continues.

Emery went on a 20+ games unbeaten run whilst also on a rebuilding phase and we've all seen what happened. I do sincerely hope you're right cause the ideal outcome for us would be for him to be the answer, and I like him as a human being, but I just can't see it.
