The CG is awful in the beginning.
Also it's really hard to watch that trailer because of the compression and artefacting kills so much detail.

That kinda looked fine to me. Trailer was cut like the Pacific Rim ones, but I doubt it's half as good.
By LabouredPatriot Go To PostAre we the real monsters?I hate how this is the story to like 90% of modern monster movies.
the more i think about king of monsters the more disappointed i am, wish Toho would tell them that the humans cant have more than 60% of the screen time on the movie or something
By rodeoclown Go To PostKinda of looks awesome
Don't think this looks good, but I'll probably watch it anyway.

Watched Halloween (78) last night for the first time in a while. Still great; has so much restraint.
Then watched Halloween (18) tonight. Pretty good but it lost me when Michael knew to drive to Laurie’s house. Motherfucker did not have her Christmas card to refer to.

When did this happen? It was the shrink dude who drove him.

Didn’t he get killed before that, out on the bridge with the cops
You’re probably right and I didn’t notice. I just remember the cops on guard duty, standing by on the road that leads to the house. It was a short run for Laurie’s daughter anyway. I thought the cops were there specifically because of Laurie?
Yeah, I think the geography of the scene’s just off. But what it did for me is make the narrative journey much less satisfying.
I thought Laurie was going to have this reckoning with her trauma, where she has prepared for 40 years for this encounter thinking Michael wants revenge, and then it was going to be revealed he didn’t actually give a shit about her and was just killing whoever for whoever’s sake - some sort of commentary on letting trauma decide your life, toxic men fucking up women’s futures without any thought; the equivalent of that scene in Mad Men where Don tells Pete he doesn’t think about him.
Making Michael someone who cares about revenge nullifies the power of him I think. When he sees her in the mirror he does that head tilt and I really liked that as a sense of ‘hmm, I kinda know her. Oh well.’ Felt like the story was going somewhere interesting rather than just boilerplate ‘I have to kill her because she got me put away’.

I liked it for what it was, girl power infused catharsis. The wife was really into the movie, so that helped. Your take would’ve made it more horrific though.
I was scrolling on Amazon Prime and stumbled across this film: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtuosity. I cant believe I haven't seen it or even heard of it before. It's basically a sincere Demolition Man with Denzel Washington playing the Stallone role and pre-LA Confidential Russel Crowe playing the Snipes role. It bombed at the box office but well worth a watch.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostSpeaking of underrated Denzel movies, I've been wanting to re-watch Fallen.Another bomb
“ The film grossed $25.2 million against its budget of $46 million.”
Some of the things about Halloween ‘18 that were frustrating to me:
The forced humour between the two cops in the car talking about sandwiches
The unnecessarily high level of gore; I know it’s about a serial killer but the original Halloween barely showed anything violent which is one of the reasons why it’s so good.
And finally, the part where the doctor decides to kill someone just so he could get Michael into gear again, lol. Really dumb. I didn’t understand why that happened at all.

I liked the humour in the car. Harmless, didn’t detract from anything. Macbeth porter shit, prolonging tension with silly jokes.

Harley Quinn right? His obsession revealed who he was. He did it for himself.
Harmless cliche.

my favourite denzel movie is probably philadelphia.
but then again, i'm a sucker for a good courtroom drama.

Philadelphia is a 1993 American legal drama and was one of the first mainstream Hollywood films to acknowledge HIV/AIDS, homosexuality, and homophobia.

It was, but with some really good performances and shit. Not a huge fan of Ridley really so one of his better films for me
Loved Fences, thought he was stunning in that. Didn’t think much of the either two but his performances are very good in both. Flight peaks after 20 minutes. Training Day is pretty fun trash.

It's just a myth made up by militant homosexuals m8.
I watched End of Watch the other day on iPlayer and I didn't know Ayer had another film out last year that bombed critically. Three in a row since Fury. Wiki says he's attached to a Dirty Dozen remake. He could be a Netflix Originals man soon, the modern day direct-to-dvd.
By Daz Go To PostEnd of Watch is really good.I would say it is "stupid fun" and I'd normally be reluctant to give that backhanded compliment. It was quite silly. And I'm not sure Ayer intended that.
Pena is underrated.
